Build #3 finished: Plain Russian ugliness

Thanks Doc, I am really pleased with how this build is working out. It has certainly taken away any doubts on using Zvezda kits as a base (once you tackle the warped parts that is )

Guney, Edmund, thanks again. At the moment working on my trio of disgruntled Russian tankers. I still have trouble getting the eyes right so two of them look like they are tripping on magic mushrooms ! Hoping to have it all wrapped up tomorrow and I'll try and get some "beauty shots" up. Can recommend this kit/add-on combination, really enjoyed it despite the patent Russian "corkscrew" hull pieces.

Hi. Julian, your work on this oldie is first rate so far. I'm really enjoying seeing your progress as the entire project comes together.

Good luck painting your figures, I don't paint 35th figures anymore, can't see them.

Hi Terry, I have to use an optivisor to be able to see anything I build Getting to be like the old blind mole (the "Stevie Wonder" of model building? ). Luckily I don't have to put up with the hysterical fits of laughter my two sons would get into when they saw me with the optivisor on now that they both live in Amsterdam

Bill, Bill and Tony: thanks for the kind comments. This was a build that went right all the way and what is more important one that I felt at ease with during weathering and shading. Still a long way to go on developing my own style but I consider this the first step.

Bill: the figures are the Miniart (Ukraine) Soviet Tank Crew Winter 1943-1945. I order mine from : http://www.moduni.de/ . Excellent service and quick dispatch so if you can't find them Statesides try Moduni.

Excellant job Julian, I really like the weathering of the green paint, and the figs look great as well.

Julian you have a done a fantastic job with the color modulation and making a monotone tank interesting and for lack of better terms providing texture.  I can feel the roughness of the paint job.

I really like your figures and would love to hear more about the paints and colors you used for them.  What company made them?

Again wonderful job and very inspirational!  (Squared!)

mgM: The Tarp You were right, the lime/kiwi green wasn't a good match. Thanks for pointing me back in the right direction there.

Scratchmod, Doc: thank you, very kind of you both. I think I mentioned this before but this is a fun build: lots of washes, sprays, filters etc. Can recommend this one to anyone.

Edmund: Thank you for the compliments Edmund, the figures are not as hot as yours, I need more practice there. Paints used for them was mainly Vallejo (Khaki brown and Iraqui sand) and some lifecolor (getting to appreciate these more now I am getting used to them).
