Well its going to look strange having a post here since the last one was a year and a half ago but i've been gone .

I too dont know what some of the paint/weathering methods are called but one thing is for sure ......you have the talent to make the model come alive and make it feel like it has a soul and story of its own .I've always seen your work as superior and beyond realistic , what with all of the superb detail that you put into your fine works of art .

Glad she got bumped back to the top since I missed her the first time around!

Really sharp, with the thread guards off she looks like she's ready to grind up some fascists with her running gear.

Alot of the references I have that show the KV's,show them with the fenders removed.Could it be to cut down on the build up of mud and such ?The KV you have built is really great looking there Treadwell. One of the best i've seen.Very realistic.

I FOUND IT!

The first three pics are just KILLERS.

My God, this looks good enough to eat. 

Every single element of this build is in perfect sync with the scale.

In other words; it looks real!   (at least to me)

Herr Manstein, thank you for noticing what exactly I was trying to portray.

To much rust is a definate no-no, but sometimes under extreme surcumstances and old lucky tank might  just look what I tried to do. The Russian armor had a poor alloy rate and was not as hardened as American,German or British offerings for the time.

Looks great.. It looks so real in my eyes especially the way the rust is on.  I like parts of the broken fender that stayed on the tank and you rusted it well.  Also the parts that have fallen off you did a great job on rusting and aging the exposed areas

I give it two thumbs up...in fact..I'll also throw in a left toe.

Hi Bill only really got to view your piece in full this evening. Truely spectacular work. the masking left by the fenders on the hull is inspiring work. Can't remember when you started this one, was it during the summer some time. Well worth the wait to see it finished.

I don't really see a problem with the glacis plate.  In some of the pics there is reflection because I do not like to fully dull coat my builds, but other than that, I don't know.

treadwell: What scale is that...1:1?!  I especially like the missing fenders and the "residue' they left behind.  It's obvious you spent a lot of thought before executing the details...and it shows!  Spectacular work! 

Only criticism is that glacis plate...it falls a bit...and I mean only a bit short compared to the other detailing.  I can't quite put my finger on what it is..my hunch is it lacks any surface streaking.  Take a secondlook and see what you think.

Now all you need is to add a figure for scale.

Maybe posed leaning on the tracks with a smirk on his face!

`~Thanks Tread ~ The Trumpiter KV comes highly recommended. The Fruils were obvious(and ideal!) So these pictures were held back from release ~ Theat means the next build is likely well underway...Yes?

Hey Tread,

"Mapping" is one of those"buzz-words" used to describe a painting/weathering technique where irregular patches of semi-transparent paint are "stacked" in a manner resembling elevation lines on a topographical map. This creates the appearance of graduations/layering of varying shades/density of paint/dirt etc. I think many of us were doing it long before it acquired a "label".

~treadman ~ Great lookin finish ~ I love it. I guess you feared critics in the anti-rust court, personally, I love what you've done. The textures are rich(turret cast look is ) The thing looks like it's been rode hard and hung up dry day after day. ~Which kit was it?

It is such a 'bare bones' build--green and OOB --actually less than OOB with all the stuff I left off!

I do have a question: Schnobs and Bodge-- you guys said my paint job had good mapping---

I hate to be so ignorant (or maybe it's just cause I paint the way I feel it), but what is 'mapping' ?

Terry-- check your P.M.s
