Hummm, how can I put this gently?? That is awesome!! I really like how you added that wood grain! How hard was that, I was thinking about doing that for a project but I am a little gun shy...

Thanks Jim I am Glad you like it.  It was really easy buddy.  I just took a fine tooth razor saw and ran it down the length of the planks to simulate wood grain. 

Scratch-work on the planks looks sharp Edmund, very nice.

Your Chevy is looking awesome, but I'm really looking forward to that paint scheme.

Hey Guys, Thank you Bill, Wayne,Rob,Bob,Marc, and least of all Dave for taking the time to provide such great support an kind comments.  Your time is appreciated as always.

I have spoken to Indy (Adam) a couple times on the phone over the last couple of days and I just want to share with you guys that not only is he an awesome modeler with a fondness for a great factually based discussion he is a great guy!!  Kudo's to Adam;s folks for making just a great person!! 

I was able to actually model a little bit while we were visiting so here are some pics of further detailing.  I am going to have to assemble my figures so I can run through some mock ups before I add the final pieces and paint.

Build Update:

I spent hours today mocking up one figure and cleaning up the Lewis gun.  This would of normally been mounted in the cargo area but that space has been converted to be used by the Breda and it would have been a shame to not use the gun and the figure that was molded specifically for that pose so after some thought and research and then plan artistic license I came with the  following but I have some outstanding questions.  I will have to not mount the water canteens on that side so the figure can stand on the running boards and I am thinking I will have to remove the square outline and find some replacement Diamond PE plate.  Or is the square outline part of the vehicle?

Here are some pics:  I still have some puttying to do on the figure and primer of course.  The head is also not permanently mounted due to the fact that I paint them separately.

I also ordered the following Figure set tonight in order to get some historically accurate weapons for the figures and the vehicle.

I think the captain likes it.

Hey guys here's a mock up of the second figure I got more done tonight than I thought so please excuse the double post. The weapon the second figure is using is a German rifle and just a mock up until the kit I ordered tonight gets here.

Kay now I am really pushing it with a third post I will have to talk my self sharply!

I would of finished the remaining figures but I found the driver had two left arms and the right arm was missing.  I purchased the New World Miniatures form Colorado Miniatures so I counted them tonight and I Will let you guys know how that went.

LOL!  Thanks Bill yes I got carried away yesterday and partly it is because I use my digital camera to check details and placement before paint to catch things my naked eye misses and I have the photos anyway so I post and I am counting on all your eyes to provide me feedback if i miss something.

Thanks guys for your patience with my enthusiasm.  I did get a return ping from Colorado Miniatures today about the missing arm of the driver figure and I was informed it is a known issue with this release so if anyone has purchased any of the LRDG crew sets from New World Miniatures check those appendages!  Colorado miniatures will be sending out a replacement arm in the mail.  Very cool customer service.

I love the composition of the vehicle and figures.  Always a pleasure to see what you've done.  I used the tips you gave me on the figure toot link.  I got some work done. I'll post later this week. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack.

I swear this thread is taking longer to open every time(is it just me?) NOT that it's not worth the wait. Ed-- you never fail to disappoint. Um Um, what did I say?  Oh you know what I mean.....Lookin killer man.  Missing arm though  huh--well, these  things happen in combat, right? It's just like my 1st box of NWM figures, they looked great BUT...It was 2 figures and 3 arms in the box ! Hopefully heads rolled over at NWM for the mistake !

I gotta agree with the guys Ed, this is looking killer buddy. Your right about the figs too,other than the missing arm they look great in the ol chevy.

Thanks for checking in and in response to Wayne's comments about quit playing with my camera and build in my best Antonio Banderas Puss in Boots voice from Shrek the Halls "I Have Shamed Myself!"

I took it to heart and finished mounting the Lewis gun pintle on the floor boards and then had to research what to do about the water canteen square his back foot was and if I should remove it and if the cargo floor was wood which is is actually metal.  Here are some real world references to back up that statement and build decision

In my research today I found this pic and my heartbeat is still pretty high!!  Must have!!!

I then got crazy with some Mr Surface on the under carriage.

Here are the major components in primer that I will paint separately.  God help me I love a Primered vehicle and freshly painted wheels!

Thanks Bob I love the look of a Primer Only Vehicle.  It is like a fresh canvas!!!

I wish I could paint have to finish prepping all the vehicle details and stowage so I can prime them next.

Yep nothing like a freshly primed model, for me that's when the fun starts. I like the positions of the figs, like Bill said, shows action and tells a story, no guess work with this model.

Good luck painting allllll those acc parts. That's the part I dislike, painting all those individual parts, worse than roadwheels.

Now get to painting that baby.

Build Update:

I was able to finish sanding and prepping al lthe stowage.  This kit originally was released when I was eight and apparently there was a shortage of plastic in the 1970's.

I was up to the challenge I buy my Milliput at Costco!
