So. I was thinking, we know the origin of the name was simply a way to disguise what they were transporting, but if a tank wasn't called a tank what would you call it?

My choice..... Armored Mobile Artillery

Probably Armored Fighting Vehicle. The Germans used panzerkampfwagen which loosely translates to armored battle wagon.

The British tended to call it a Landcruiser while they were developing it. The idea was that it would rule the Battlefield like the Armored cruisers and Battle Cruisers of the seas.

Well, it does rule the battlefield!

In Japanese it's "sensha," which literally means "war vehicle."

"Battle Wagon" always sounded good to me!
