Cool stuff KFS!

Where did you source the AM brass MG? It looks like a British .303 like the ones mounted on a Mosquito.

Regardless looking forward to seeing how you apply the paint on this truck, as you have a good style that is always realistic / artistic.

Being a unique conversion I would say this is your truck vrs. a commission build. Also with your attention to detail & accuracy you may want to cast the conversion parts in resin, a division of KFS miniatures, KFS Resin Conversions!

I applaud not only your dedication to accuracy in regards to the rocket launcher but also the outcome. Yes Yes Very nice work especially the addition of the rockets.

Wow - brass or copper?? How are you forming the rocket tips, the shape looks very consistent.

according to launcher dimensions and photo references this graphic is correct:

drilling finished

now I have to scratch 'barrels' on the top and put some rockets into lower holes

 zokissima:
What exactly is off about the Trumpeter launcher?

to be honest.. everything, except the number of rockets. too big length and diameter, incorrect lenght, angle and shape of the nose..

Fair enough. If you don't mind, where did you find the correct measurements for the rocket pod?

Seems like a lot of work yet I know you can get the inaccurate part whipped sanded, puttied & modified into shape!

If you do not mind waiting I am sure someone has the correct launcher in their stash and would mail it out.

Regardless its one bad (mean) looking truck! Only the Vietnam 6x6 with quad .50 calibers looks as cool.

I'm going to rework this plastic part (btw, it is 1/35 launcher from Trumpeter's Mi-24). It will be just time-consuming..

There are a few aircraft kits that have many options for Soviet ordinance, maybe someone can send you a rocket launcher like the one pictured.

The resent release of the 1/32 scale 'Frog foot' is one that has many extra offensive gear, it would be a lot easier than scratch building the multiple launcher. It could be turned & sanded to change the OD from 1/32 scale to 1/35 scale.

Regardless interesting conversion!

Reminds me of the recent news footage showing a 'Technical' or rebel Sudanese 4x4 Toyota sporting the same rocket system rigged to the truck box.

I was going to use launcher from Trumpeter's kit.. but it's failed. Dimensions and shapes are incorrect

..so i have to prepare for another scratchwork

I'm going to rework tires from the kit and cast them in resin. there are two reasons: first of all, rubber used by ICM and Alanger causes damages of styrene (plastic parts melting down). Second reason is a poor quality of tire's details..

Leave it to the Russians... Smile

Will be watching this one with interest. Just out of curiosity, do you plan to use the Ural kit tires? From what I recall they're grossly undersized, and the tread pattern may have been off as well.

Love the fact that we're seeing more Russian cold war subjects on this forum finally.
