1/48 scale is the perfect scale of every aspect of building & detailing scale miniatures.
The figure quality has finally caught up with the model quality.
I am guilty of signing up on Group Builds then not pulling through on getting anything done for it.
I feel shame & its like letting people down.
Have every intention of accomplishing said model for the GB yet life, distractions, current 'it' project on bench coupled with a short attention span have me jumping to different builds. Hence 'Weekend Madness' is very therapeutic for this affliction.
That being said the 1/48 scale GB sounds like a go!
Hi guys,
I would happily play host to a 1/48 GB later this year but I don't know how well this would work as the majority of the users of this forum are obviously in the US and I'm in England. Also it would be my first GB but it can't be hard to host a GB, can it?
I've got Andy's (Deafpanzer) Pz III and variants GB coming up and I entering two builds for that. It starts on July 1st so I'll be building one straight away and another around Christmas time (the GB runs for a year iirc).
A nice 1/48 build to fill the gap would be great - I even know what I want to build:
Tamiya's stunning (and very big, even in 1/48) Jagdtiger! With an RB turned barrel and Friuls this would be a real gem!
I've looked at the amazing JT from Dragon and even though it's one I'd prefer I just don't have the room at present for something of this size in 1/35! I'm told that the 1/48 version is pretty big though and is a lovely build.
What are people's feelings on a future 1/48 GB? I might run a 'feeler' post.

I agree, I have a lot of the Tamiya figures, and after having bought and built a small army of 35th scale, they are really not bad items. Bit smaller bit fewer parts to put on, but then, sometimes the part fit on some 35th scale stuff makes one wonder if the company really gives a damn what they look like out of the box. I'd rather the part was molded on and at least seeming to be 'naturally' sitting on the body, than attached and rigid and unnatural looking without a lot of excessive modification to make up for lousy planning on the part of the company that made the kit.
And I can say that EVERYONE can be called on the carpet over that comment about 35th scale figures. Tamiya and Dragon have some nice items, but they also have some items that look like they were Friday models.

Ben, I think it would be great if you hosted a new 1/48 GB! I don't think you being in England would have any issues at all - I can even dig up my the old GB and refresh if if you like. I'm up for it, sounds like we already have 4 people right now willing to commit. GIves SupreesionFire a chance to redeem himself from the last GB!

Wow, 3 weeks! Then best of luck and Congrats on your new baby. If you actually get to finish a model in the next 4 months with a new baby, I will be mighty impressed!
