Sorry Carl, I missed this on the PanzerJager GB!  Man what a BEAUTY!!  She's absolutely gorgeous!  The camo job is fantastic and I love the shading you did!  Excellent, just excellent!

wbill, for my German armour camo schemes, i have really been relying on the Squadron Signal books. From the discussion on the early war camo, concerning when the switch to all over Pz Grey was made, and other discussion on hard edged schemes and painting vehicles in all over green rather than yellow, i think i need to update my references.

You got any suggestion on decent reference material for this subject.

I agree they do get a bit of a bad rap. I built the Ostwind kit a couple of years ago and that was very nice. And i have a Panzerwerfer 42 and a Bergepanther in the stash which do look very nice. But i still tend to only buy their kits when theres no other option, but i don't know why really. They are better than we give them credit for.

 

Remember when Tamiya was coming out with their armor kits that all had the holes in the hull for the motorization of them , i thought that idea made them seem like toys . Then Italeri came out with some fairly accurate kits for the time , 1980's . And their price was a lot cheaper than Tamiya . Then tamiya kits got better and Dragon came along , afv , Academy ......etc . and i think Italeri got left behind on their quality .

I do remember those tamiya kits from my early days of armour modelling in the late 80's early 90's. The only Italeri kit i recall building in the 90's was the Elefant, and even then i didn't think it was upto the Tamiya kits that were my main stay. When i stopped modelling in 2003, i only had a couple of Dragon Imperial series kits. When i got back into it in 08 it was a whole different ball game.

I have just checked the hannats site and they have a Dragon 234/1/2 and /4. I don't have any wheeled armour in the stash, but i think i might have to do somthing about that.

Haven't been on the forums lately so am late to the party, very nice work all around on the finish, very eye-appealing and of course your attention to the details and gear is also top notch!

The nitpick that Manny mentions deals with accuracy around when this specific variant of the 234 was produced. All the 234/4s were produced after Dec '44 when hard-edged factory applied schemes were the rule and the surviving photos of 234/4s invariably show them with a three-tone hard-edge scheme as a result. The pic you posted is a 234/2 that was produced prior to when the factory hard-edged schemes were put in place and field applied soft edge were still the norm. The production history of the 234 variants is all over the map (the /1/2/3/4 weren't produced in that order either! ) so it's not a simple exercise of taking a photo of one variant and using that as an accurate reference per se for the other variants depending.

As Manny mentioned, it doesn't detract from what you've achieved with the soft edge three-tone at all IMHO.

Outstanding craftmanship on this model!!! My nitpick would be that these vehicles sported the hard-edge three tone scheme when the few that were produced came out...although your soft-edge tri-color looks great!

TD , i looked at many pics of this model and i agree about not seeing the gun elevated or rotated either . So i figured "why not ?" . Not all targets are directly in front or close .

Bish, it was a delightful build . I was surprised it went along so well concidering it being an older Italeri kit , they get a bad rap . Course they arent up to the standards of new releases , but i have a lot of them in my stash .

That's an absolute beauty. I really like the subtle weathering, and the light damage on the side is very well done. Afraid i didn't follow the WiP, but going to have to check it out.

Kevin , i agree about a base n some figures . A nice little dio would really add to the vehicle . I've never done a dio b4 .........hmmmmmmm . Glad i couild provide you with some insight . If it makes model bulding fun then thats a good thing ! (as Martha Stewart used to say )

Luttiger , here's one of my original pics . (below pic was not edited ) To me it looks ok , like your edited pic , but i wanted to enhance the colors to look more like the actual model in front of me .

I've just finished reading your WIP thread - thanks for posting, it's provided a great insight on building armour to me. 

I love the colours you've used on this WIP - it looks fantastic.  I especially like the wheels and jerry cans, i can't wait until i can produce something similar.

Andy i'm not sure about what the next pile of plastic parts will be to take shape on my bench . I was thinking WW II USA but doing the camo on German WW II is so artistic ....i really enjoy the variety . So..............i dont know yet what will be next .

Steve , the camo turned out better than i expected . No plan on what the design would be . I just started spraying and there it was . I agree , a base would really add to the model . and some figures as well . +
