More like a lion, a tiger and a bear.  Oh my!

Actually it wasn't as bad as all that.  Cutting out the plastic screen was easy.  When I did my T-34/76 I attached the frame to the screen first then to the engine cover.  This time I attached the screen to the plastic, then added to frame.  The 1st way was a lot easier.

Your T34 is looking real good!   Yes, agree with Boyd that you should send FSM the photo of your Marder!  It has a better chance to land on the magazine cover!  Be sure to send two... one before painting so everybody can see all of the PE stuff and one when completed.

Progress look good on the tank. I like the way you 'shape assemble' the track links and thanks for posting a pic of your technique

Ouuu, painting phase already!  Think I will seeing this in the October meeting?  My older 34/76 1941 kit is no where near with only the lower hull assembled, and it doesn't even have magic tracks =(.  Was your PE screen instructed to be installed on the bottom of the plastic vent cover or on top?

I FINALLY managed to score a T-34/85 at the Austin show today! That metal barrel's going to come in real handy, and probably real soon!

Can't wait to see this one get paint!

Painting has finally started.  First a base coat of a very dark green.  That was followed with Vallejo Reflective Green, leaving the edges and deeper areas a bit dark.  Some highlights added with lightened green... almost none of which can be seen in the photos.  The side of the hull has been dot filited.  The gas stains are AK Interactive engine grime that I picked up at the AMPS show.

On the turret ventilators: Two clustered together is the "early" version, while one in back and one up front is post-war, to the best of my understanding. Also, I believe this pertains to the composite turret, but maybe others as well.

The Maquette turret is the post-war version. I had to move them on mine......

LOVE IT. As with your bipes, it's the details that make this thing. The fuel spill. The runs on the turret stripe.

I was planning on tackling my Dragon Tiger I Late after putting the M4A4 to bed, but I don't know...I may have to play with my T-34/85 instead.

It's kind of refreshing seeing Russian armor not beat to a pulp.

Like others said, the fuel spill and the markings are well done and adda bit of character to the vehicle. Just goes to show you don't need the newest and greatest model to achieve great results.

Hey guys... thanks so much.

Richard, "primned" with a very dark green.  The base color is Vallejo Reflective Green which was lightened awith alittle buff for some highglighting.

Bill, older kit with a lower part count and straight OOB make for a quckie. And I think I saw a jar of PB at Costco that may have a lid big enough.  But what do i doi with 10 lbs of PBTongue Tied

Doog, I vote for the T-34 for some reasonWhistling  Did the barrel get there?

Shell, the tracks were done with some new Ak Interactive stuff I bout at the AMPS show.  Dark brown base coat the some AK rust pigments followed by AK Track Wash.  The metal color is AK Darl Steel pigment applied with a finger tip.  feels alot like graphite though.

Eric, I agree.  except for an initial compliant about some flash... which got better (as in less) as the build progressed... it did pretty well for a 14 year old kit.

Great looking tank! The T-34/85 is one of my favorites. In my opinion, Russian tanks have such great character to them, or at least, you can add a great deal of character to them. Some people like 'em beat up, some don't, you can add crazy slogans to them, some of that bed spring armor, fuel cans, etc. I suppose you could say that for a lot of armor subjects, but there just seems to be something unique, and perhaps a bit silly, about Russian armor.
