Good catch up thread - I've been out of the hobby for a year or two and I'm itching to get back in.

hi all, just passing thru the forums and this thread got my attention because i remember most of the folks mentioned above.i'm still struggling with my computer literacy and posting pix so i became a browser and left the active conversations to those who can "put thier money where thier mouth is" so to speak. i really enjoy seeing and reading the work that everyone posts here IMHO the cornerstones of this forum (and you know who you are) really do a great job of posting creative and helpful topics.thanks for helping me stay up to date and interested in an otherwise solitary, forgotten, and whoafully underenjoyed (life is in the way)hobby.      P.S. call me what ya want so long as it's not late for dinner LOL

SMJ! Glad you made it back. And you NEEEED to share some of those RR building pics you sent me...they're too good not to.

DONE!, thanks for the prodding/encouragement.

Re: your Tiger I barrel - you have a lot of options, just depends whether you're more interested in cost or speed in getting it to you. Keep in mind you're looking for a KwK36 L/56.

Definately cost, thanks for the resources dupes I'll go search away!

Re: your Tiger I barrel - you have a lot of options, just depends whether you're more interested in cost or speed in getting it to you. Keep in mind you're looking for a KwK36 L/56.

RB Model #35B01 - just look for this guy on ebay. Lots of options. Should be had for $10 or less.
Aber #35L-26 - I don't have a cheap source for Aber stuff. Google away.
Armorscale #B35-008 - same deal.
LionRoar #LB3501 - same deal.
Voyager #VBS0105 - same deal.

I'm sure there are more options (Jordi Rubio, Panzer Art, Etc.) but that should give you a good start. Shoot, just go to ebay and enter "1/35 Tiger barrel". I've found that the RB Model barrels are top shelf items, but tend to be MUCH cheaper than the other options.

Andy and Shell you were both missed, it's that sometimes we don't want get all sappy on you.

Another member I wish we could see more of is Moses. He did great armor and was a master of homemade zimmert. I know he's busy with his young family, so hopefully hell come back as the kids age.

Steve/SMJ - What the he!!?  Its like a long lost brother has just returned!!  Welcome back and, yes many of us noticed your absence!  I'm eager to see what modeling madness you have planned for the Tiger!

hmmmmm......I wonder if Steve's return heralds a reappearane of others??  Anyone else out there?

All, thanks to everyone for all your responses.  My intent upon posting this was simply to lament the fact that some of the guys I "grew up" with on this forum are gone, but not to figure out what happened to them.  We all know that life takes all of us in different directions and sometimes people need to move on, but I still feel lucky to have shared this hobby with so many great members, past & present.

Hats off to all you treadheads (and other modelers!) that keep this hobby so alive!Toast

Shelback i dont think it would have been the same guy from what i knew about Edd,but hey i may be wrong, who knows

Karl i retract the phrase bullying as i dont know the whole facts and only saw the last parts of it and what i was told on private emails, trouble is you hear one story and tend to think it is gospel without hearing all sides. As it had nothing to do with me i take back my earlier statement. All i know is he was a good modeller ,a brilliant poster on tutorials on his work and to me a nice bloke. He may have been a complete ar*e hole to others  i dont know.

Andy, I completely understand, and hold nothing against either you or he. I just wanted the story to be told how it happened. From time to time, there are occasional sour grapes here sometimes who will use any chance to bash the forums or some of its members here, and I just didn't want that unfortunate episode to cast a dark hue on the goings-on here when things generally run smoothly. Hey Guys!!!, PRETTY AMAZING!!!,

Check this out....

After MONTHS away from armor I get the hankerin' this past weekend...remembering the modeling vets advice:  "to get back into the swing of things, keep it simple", I decide to dig out the Tamiya Tiger I-Initial, nice kit, no zim', a good "jump starter", so to speak.

I start rummaging through the box, and the warm fuzzy juicesStick out tongue start flowin'... I yell for my wife (Oooops wrong forum Wink)...for old-time-sake I familiarize myself with the instructions and proceed to clip off the "not needed" parts...then I notice the two piece barrelDead!!! and NO PE screens for the intake coversTongue Tied!!!  OK vets, simple is one thing, but sanity is anotherPropeller!!!  After some internal debate I decide I better go find an AM barrel and grilles.  Grilles, ebay, no problem...barrel, problem!  then...WAITIdea...I think... no problem, the guys on the forum will have the info on the barrelYes!!!

No sooner do I get to the forum do I find this thread...after a good cryCrying here I am.  True story, with some comedic relief...and the added tears.  Seriously though, I do have the Tiger in mind and will be starting an intro/ info thread real soon.

If Bill left that is indeed a loss to the community. I PM'd him long after another blowout on the forums and hopefully convinced him to return, which he did for some time.

What about Rick rjkmodelplastics? He vanished without so much as a peep. Some of the A/C guys must know what happened.
