Nice to see you back around these parts Steve! Some very cool stuff you've got going on there on both the cars and the buildings. Railroad offers such a wide spectrum for weathering and you've captured it nicely with this sample. Some of those cars look like ones I used to pass by every day in the Union Pacific rail yards on the way to work in Juarez!

We certainly don't see any of that here in the forums. Well done on the cars and buildings.

Did you take pictures or get reference to any real trains before you started?

tojo72:  These are all HO gauge, commission work.  They are not on my own layout.  I'm designing my own layout now...N gauge...I REALLY LOOK FORWARD to building/weathering my own stuff!

Tigerman: Thanks T-man, Graffitti can actually be purchased as a DECAL...REALLY!  A lot of railroad enthusiasts building modern layouts insist on graffitti... I DON'T/ WON"T do graffitti.  There are some fantastic sites with railroad car prototype (that's the term in Railroading) pictures available.  Here are two I used to weather the boxcars shown::

    I like watching trains go by and checking out some of the good graffiti !

It must drive Union Pacific nuts, but some of that stuff is very artistic. Perhaps some fellow modellers moonlighting?

Needs more rust...

Super work there! Some of the best weathering and rust I've seen even as high as the bar is here.

I see graffiti on half the Norfolk Southern rolling stock that goes past my work place. Some may call it 'urban art' - I call it what it is- vandalism.

Are you going to attempt the same weathering in N scale? That will be something

I'm so happy that you decided to share these with us--MAGNIFICENT. Your touch with weathering and rust is definitely "Master"-grade!

As you know, the Coal Breaker makes me drool, lol. It kinda DOES look like St. Nick's, in a way? It's certainly big enough!

You know, I actually have kicked around the idea of building St Nicks. I think the only reason I'm not trying is because it would be one of those modeling projects that completely consumes a modeler for like, ten years, adding detail after detail, and trying to model the wreckage inside, as seen through all those windows?

The train cars are fantastic, too! You've really got a great thing going here!!! Can't wait to see the Tiger!!

Oh, and I'll be photographing that other breaker on Friday, next week! I'll send ya photos!

I wish I had some O-Gauge stuff to send you...would be fun to do up some of the 1/48 Tamiya armor I've got at a railyard. Mmmmm.

Perhaps you should look into snagging some of their 1/48 kits.

Panzerpilot: ,  I actually DON"T like the look of the graffitti...even as a painting challenge.

Bodge:  I appreciate that 1:72 dio' you did even more now!  The train scenery guys could learn a lot from you! in fact, call the guys at Model Railroader magazine...same Kalmbach Group.

Gamera:  Very kind words and yes the bar is high here...LOTS of talent on this forum.  Vandalism is vandalism...period.  I just finished my first N-gauge freight car, I'm real happy with it! 

dupes: O-gauge has come a long way since the Lionel days.  They offer much more realistic trains and accessories...not so "toylike".  I HAVE considered building/selling some 1:48 armor to ride on a flatbed...hmmmm  BTW: How many 1:48 do you have under your belt?  any US stuff? thoughts? recommended kits/ mfr? PM or call me!).   

redleg12: scratchmod DID see the rusty stuff, he was at The Big E Train Show just this past January.  I had everything on display at my vendor table and him and Ken (camokid)  came by...they were representing AK Interactive at the show, it was great to see them again!

Sir D: Of the many trains I had on display at the show the Soo Line and  the diesel were by far the most controversial...The viewers were diametrically opposed, they either LOVED -EM  or HATED EM!  I thought you would appreciate them, thanks Steve!
