Can't wait to see what you are going to do with this. Ironically, I was scoping out one of these puppies in that sale... now you have really planted the seed.

in the other picture the rear light is a road march light not part of MILES. i have always liked the draped camo net on the barrel. i did that with my VRC-105 CENTAURO 8x8 TD.

the whole tank is MILES'd up. i know you know this stikpusher but others may not and, since i was on the MILES original NETT, AD/HELO NETT and reservs NETT in the '80s i know a bit about it. the belt on the side of the turret is a detector belt, the light behind the machine gun is the MILES kill light. the tube over the mantlet is a main gun simulator device. all of these are only on the tank when training. i agree it's a viper. these, like the centurions, look cool w/o the skirts.

That looks like one of the "viper" MILES trainers. The Viper was a replacement for the M72 that was never purchased. But at the time it was under development, the Army was also developing the MILES (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System) training system. So they bought the Viper training weapons, but not the real deal. It was a single shot shoulder fired rocket launcher, just like the M72 LAW and AT-4, but its' armor penetration was not sufficient. That is why the AT-4 was developed. You can see the MILES sensor belt around the base of the turret of the Leopard. Those shots do bring back memories of Hohenfels for me...Tongue Tied

That Leopard is a good looking tank indeed. I will be watching how the Hobyboss kit builds up. I did the Testors/Italeri kit ages ago in the late 80s when it was a new release...Wink

Love the look of the Leopard too, one of the best looking tanks out there. Looking forward to seeing her come together.

Looking forward to seeing the weathering magic you perform.

And it looks like a blunderbuss to me.

Me too!

Mechtech:  Not sure what's he's holding...looks like a couple others have chimed in with guesses.

Blitzwing: AMEN on the this turret shape versus the arrowhead look!

wing nut: I have a bunch of new MIG powders just waiting to get lathered on this one!  what the heck is a blunderbussTongue Tied?!

I'm not entirely sure but it kind of looks like an AT-4 to me.

I got one of these in the stash too. Is it me or am I the only one that prefers the look of the slab sided turret as opposed to the newer ones with the arrowhead profile?

Guys:  I'm just underway on this one, a recent score from the current LuckyModel sale:

This is my first modern tank...and man ARE THEY HUGEIndifferent!!!  My recently completed Tiger I is still on display on the bench and it is dwarfed by this bad-boy!

I found a couple sweet pictures that capture the look and weathering  I'm going for.  I'm not sure to leave the side skirts off or on, both versions in these pic's look great.  I'm excited to do the three color camo' then dirty the heck out of it!!!

More to come...
