I'm just wondering how a group build about all light tanks, or light tracked vehicles that employ tank guns as their main armament, would sound.
Maybe a time from of December 1st to the first deployment of tank in an offensive, September 15-during a part of the Battle of the Somme.
So any light tank or tracked vehicle employing a "tank-type" gun, from any era, any country, any scale... Anything else.
Any interest?
In progress:
CAD:
1/35 SINCGARS ICOM/ASIP; 1/35 Flat screen TVs; 1/35 tactical light that I shall reveal later
Models:
1/35 DML M4A1 DV; AFV Club M18 Hellcat; DML StuG IV; DML Armored Jeep w/ .50 cal; Panda Cougar 4x4 MRAP; Academy M3A1 Stuart; 1/700 Midship Models USS Miami; 1/700 Skywave Rudderow Destroyer Escort
Sounds interesting. You might want to postpone it to mid or late 2014 though. There are 2 armor GBs planned for early 2014 already: Tigerman's North Africa GB and my tank hunter GB. This one might not get that much interest because of the other GBs. You could still host it if enough guys are interested. Just my 2 cents...
Also today a lot of vehicles that take the place of light tanks are now wheeled like the MGS version of the Stryker and the 90mm version of the Commando.
Spartan: Well... Maybe the GB could start around May? And send it through January? 8 months?
Rob: I realize that. But there has to be a few vehicles that could be categorized as light tanks or are tracked vehicles with tank-type guns. Sort of like a Bradley.
Mikey, would crossovers be allowed? I might be doing a light tank for Eric's North Africa GB.......

Last Armor Build - 1/35 Dragon M-26A1, 1/35 Emhar Mk.IV Female
Last Aircraft Builds - Hobby Boss 1/72 F4F Wildcat & FW-190A8
Sure. As long as it's also within the guidelines of that GB as well.
Ok. I will amend this to only be Light tanks. That is, tanks, classifieds by their country's respective military forces as being "Light tanks," are allowed. So a M4 Sherman is not included, but a M24 Chaffee is.
Are "paper tanks" allowed as well? If so, I'm in with HobbyBoss' 1/35 Leopard:
I have some special plans on how to paint this little bugger
I have an Pz.38(t) as well, if you don't want paper tanks in your GB.
Ok... What is a "paper tank?"
MikeyBugs95Ok... What is a "paper tank?"
Ones that were designed but never put into production in real-life.
Ah. ok... Yeah, those are ok as long as they were or were to be classified as "Light tanks."
I'm in with the Leopard then!
bufflehead Mikey, would crossovers be allowed? I might be doing a light tank for Eric's North Africa GB.......
hey bufflehead you thinking of the dragon DAK PZ-1B? i have a pair of those and was thinking about it too.
Никто не Забыт (No one is Forgotten)Ничто не Забыто (Nothing is Forgotten)
Hey, I'm sorry to disappoint you guys, but Eric doesn't allow crossovers in his Africa GB...
Ok. Well, whoever was doing a build in the African GB can't do that build here. But if you have another light tank, then you can do that one here.
Yeah Mikey, scratch that crossover with Eric's North Africa GB. However, I've been itching to build the MiniArt 1/35 T-70M Soviet Light Tank....what do you think?
It's a light tank. It's included.
ok so no DAK crossover. a couple of questions
like ROB said i have a number of warwheels that would fit that category 4x4 , 6X6 and 8X8 with gun or ATGM unless this is specific to WW2.
if specific to WW2 would variants on light tank chassis count like PZ-! command vehicles or PZ-1 w/ FLAK?
i like the idea of holding off until may or june.
It is odd to think that a vehicle like an M113 ACAV has more firepower than virtually any variant of the Panzer I!
I dug out an ex-Esci Italeri Panzerjaeger 1 Ausf. B w/Pak 43 that I will build.
Wayne: No wheeled vehicles. Only fully tracked vehicles. And it is non-specific to any era. So any era, fully tracked vehicles classified as "light," including, but not specific to: Light tanks, Tankettes, or fully tracked combat cars. This does not include anything not classified as the one of the above. Sorry.
Rob: Isn't the Panzerjäger I a tank destroyer? You can do a Panzer I but not a Panzerjager I. This build includes the light tanks but not the different categorical variants. Sorry. So, again, you can build a Pz.I but not a Pz.Jg.I
I'll build a JB Models Vickers light tank then.
Rob: If you still want to build that Panzerjäger I, I'd love to have that one in the Hunters II GB...
Mikey: I could create a basic badge for this GB, if you need someone to do it...
Sure, why not, Schatten.
Just one question regarding the badge: What's the name of the GB going to be?
Well.... I think the term "feather weight" applies... but not wholly... Just "light tanks and tracks gb"?
How about "Tracked Tin Cans"?
I like Rob's!!
Some others that sprang to mind:
Yeah, they're goofy, but so am I!!
I vote for "Tracked Tin Cans" (If I'm allowed to vote...)
Maybe... Tank in a Can?
