Thanks Rob. The weathering was a bit heavier than i had planned, its a shame to lose so much of the camo. But i agree, it goes go well with the base and i think i am getting the hang of the weathering now.

Another great finish Bish! I really like the weathering on the tubes. Like others have said that fern seems to stick out quite a bit, but I don't think it ruins the look

Thanks Griffin. Most of them are boxed up in the shed. But i am soon going to be moving into the spare bedroom with plenty of shelf space, so hopefully that will change. I do like making diorama's, ever since i saw Shep Paines crashed B-17G dio back in the 80's i have been hooked.

I've been holding my tongue long enough I suppose, but what can I say? This is really, really amazing stuff. I love all of it, including the ugly bush that stands out lol. It does pull the eyes towards it a little, which would be great if you had a tiny dog sitting there lol.

Absolutely love the finish.

Thanks guys.

Pawel, there is a wide mix of products. The large bushes are rubberised horsehair spinkeled with various scatter materials. Its becoming a favorite of mine.

You mean the fern, ye, i agree. I was not sure about that myself. Its a paper product from greeline, i have used their nettles before and they were fine as is. They are a bit to in your face and need some variation, i just wanted to see what otehr would say which is why i only used one, didn't want to over do it.

Thanks for confirming it, i can sort that out with some dry brushing i think.

Oh yeah - I like it a lot, it's lookin' good - especially the vegetation. What did you use to do it? Those plants near the rear left corner are maybe a little off-colour - maybe you could blend them in a little. Other than that it's very nice, thanks for sharing and have a nice day

The stuff i was waiting for from the States arrived during the week, so i've been able to finish this build off. I alreadt had the figures done. After seeing this pic on the comp, i realised the eyes needs a bit of touch up.

I had also addd some more soot to the rocket launcher and everything was brought together. Afraid i forgot to take pics while i was doing the base, but it was just so manic trying to get it all done. So, excuses ashide, here are the final pics.

And there you have it. After 20 years, its about time i got this built. I am really pleased with the finish, and i do like the pine branches which is one of the items i was waiting for.

The more observant will have noticed the lack of my normal nameplate. Unfortunatly my printer has gone belly up and i won't be getting a new one until next month, so i will add that then.

All comments welcome as always.

I agree. The front line, whatever theatre, was often in flux during WW2. The MG 42 makes you think about a nervous crew wanting to be ready for a surprise patrol or partisans for that matter. It adds a little flavor. It definitely adds to the overall feel.

That looks great. I love the MG 42. It adds to the look. Was the MG 42 in the Royal Model AM set?

   Hey Bish!
You were right. It would have been wasted http://rr-bb.com/images/smilies/hairout.gifeffort to try and rework that flooring. All came together nicely.

I'll be watching for the "finish up" with the base on this build and yes, it should look grand on that base, I'm sure.

Time to get to the weathering and get the vehicle finished. First thing to do was the dot filtering. I am going for a heavy weathered finish and how the dot filtering is done has a large effect on this. I have pretty much got the heavy look just how i want it. I still have to work on the lighter weathered finish, but i have a couple of builds coming up to work on that.

For the filtering i am using oils which allows me a lot of time to work on it. Doing one section at a time, i added dots of white, raw umber and raw sienna.

Then, using a wide flat brush with a little white spirits these are streaked downwards.

Once the whole vehicle is don, i add some streaking with AK streak effects.

I had also done some work on the trcaks. A steel dry brush was followed by a raw umber wash.

And the chassis could now be put together.

And back on the upper hull, the final touches were some chipping and dusting with AK Dark mud, earth and dust effects.

Then the two halves were brought together and all the last parts fitted. And once that was done some pigments added around the lower edge and the running gear.

And thats just about it. I think i will add some exhaust stain down the rocket tubes as they look a bit shiny.

I do think this finish looks over done for a stand alone model, but hopefully onc eon the base it will make sense. And speaking of which, i now have to out this on hold for a week or so. The materials i wanted to give me the base i wanted i could only find at the Scenic factory in the US. So i ordered some bt on Fri and hopefully they won't take more thna a couple of weeks. So for now i'll just get the figures finished off and get onto my next build.

Thanks for looking and all comments welcome of course.

Had quite a busy wekend so thought i would share it with you. having got the rockets finished, i fitted some inside, along with the long awaited missing parts from RM.

I was then able to get the top on which went on pretty well. I then laid a couple more rockets on the floor once i worked out where the loader would stand.

It seems as thoguh this kit is based on the vehicle at the Samur tank museum. It includes moulded on hooks for holding the hatch open. These are fitted to the samur vehicle but according to Nuts and Bolts, these are probably a post war addition as there is not sign of these in war time photo's, and i have looked and think they are right.

It was then just down to the last bits of PE on the outside. I used Aber tool clamps as the RM set did not include these. The insid was also filled with tissue to mask off the openings. You can see those hooks have been removed.

Then off to the paint booth. Yesterday i gave it a primer coat, then this morning i got up early before we went out for the day and sprayed the Dark Yellow useing Xtracolor enamels. When we came home, i then sprayed the random squiggles of green and red brown which i could do in one sitting as i didn't have to worry about masking.

And the launcher was done as well.

And after leaving it a couple of hours, i gave the whole thing a dry brush useing MiG oils.

And yes, i was useing enamels, yes i did say a couple of hours and yes it was touch dry. A complete paiunt job and dry brush in 12 hours, who says useing enamels is slow.

And finally, my first pic of the figures. I put the two standing figures together a couple of weeks ago. But i waited until the two hull halves were together before doing the kneeling figure to get his arm position right.

So now i will let the oil dry brush dry for a couple of days before a coat of future and the weathering. In the menatime i can work on the figures and finish and fit the tracks.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
