Hey guys,

Had some work done on the wheels and schurzen this evening. Did some streaking on the schurzen, because i'm thinking about leaving one of the schurzen in the primer color, like it has been replaced in the field or something.

Hey guys, thnx for the info. Didn't want to chip the StuG too heavy, but i needed to apply a primer, so why not the original color :P. I used the rotbraun primer from Vallejo. Thanks for the tips T26, gonna follow your advice for chipping!! Do you have some good reference pictures of a chipped StuG? Gr Marco

Looks good, what brand did you use for the primer.

I agree with Roy on the chipping, not a big fan of lots of it, people seem to think brushing a tree will remove lots of paint.

Chipping medium tells me you intend to show lots of the red oxide showing through.  I would advise to only do a spartan amount -- it's easily overdone, in my opinion.   Also consider the location of the chipping would mostly be where the crew climbs on or grabs areas of the StuGIV.  Usually, that's up the glacis in front of the driver.  The crew hatches.  The two rectangular brake hatches (they needed daily adjustment), the engine hatches (for fuel top off and general maintenance), the leading edges of the fenders and bottoms of the shurzen.  Don't overdo the shurzen -- they are flimsily hooked on -- a huge scratch would have simply knocked the thing off.

Don't chip areas that wouldn't get battered -- I see people put a chipped edge on the inside of some panel that never gets touched.  That simply doesn't make sense to me.  Best of luck to you!

Tamiya StuG. IV 1/35 - FINISHED!
Posted by DutchLegend on Monday, January 1, 2018 5:55 AM

Hello everyone,

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!

Just started this built, a StuG. IV from Tamiya. Sprayed the model in a RAL8012 oxide red primer. After it is dry is spray the model with some chipping medium followed by a basic layer of dunkelgelb.

Update #1

There are some black spots on some of the pictures, but this is due some kind of dirt stuck between the phone housing and lens. Gonna take pictures with another phone next time!!

Greetings Marco
