                        I seen this in the trains.co fourm and i thought it would be fun here, so here is how it goes, i will post clues or a pic of a tank ,afv, etc and who ever gusses it first get to post a clue of pic.

                        here is the clue:
                        used at the end of the war, was built for AA but had devistating effects on infintry divisions, non are still around.

                        Dodgy photo alright, but it looks like one of the German Grosstractor designs from the late 1920's. Probably Grosstractor 1with one 105mm howitzer in the lower turret and 3 mg's in the rear/upper turret.

                        Close enough! Actually Grosstraktor III. Very good Petbat, you're are next winner! My books say it has a 75mm, but they are kind of sketchy on this vehicle, maybe it is a 105. Sorry about the junk photo, it's the only one I've seen of this beast.

                        Peridexion, I have better reference pics of Grosstacktor 1 and Grosstracktor 2 but don't have my camera at the moment. I hope to pick it up late next week so I'll send you the pics if you e-mail me your address.

                        As to the quiz, the family and I are off to see my Wife's sick Granfather and I will be offline for a week. So here is a pic, and I'll send t3488g the answer, seeing as he started this thread. I'll leave it to him to choose a new pic if no-one gets this one.



                        One obscure tip - only one of these saw action against the Germans in WW2. Good luck.

                        No, this isn't a joke, but it sure looks like it could be. The seam on the right side of the photo is from the centerline fold in the magazine from which I took the picture. Give up? Well t3488g, you were on the right track. This is the SU-310, Soviet superheavy, rocket-assisted, 310mm artillery piece, taken outside the Artillery, Engineers and Signals Museum in St. Petersberg. If this isn't big enough for you, there is also a 410mm piece that looks just like it! You're probably not going to find this in very many books, if any. I'll be back just as soon as I scan in the next Mystery Vehicle!?!

                        No idea what that is, but here are some pix of a full scratchbuild done by local Osakan modeler Akira Yoshimoto of the 2A3 406mm SPG that looks a lot like that previous Soviet piece. This model won the grand prize at The 16th Armour Modeller's Conference in Kansai.

                        J-Hulk, According to Military Modelcraft International, the magazine from which I obtained this info, the model would be the "SU-410mm" thingy, or so they called it. 406, 410? ah, what's 4mm when you have a schwanz this big, eh? I don't really know what this thing REALLY is. 2A3? OK, sounds good to me!

                        That's just what Mr. Yoshimoto calls it. Actually, in the Japanese text it says: "2A3/#12467;#12531;#12487;#12531;#12469;#12488;#12540;2P 406mm"
                        (can ya'll see that?), or: 2A3/ Kondensato 2P 406mm."

                        "Kondensato" is from the Japanese Katakana, so I have no idea of the actual spelling.

                        But what a big gun!

                        It really is a beautiful model, little wonder he took the grand prize. Notice how much the color changes in the 3 photos in the link you posted, all due to changes in lighting. Something we all need to keep in mind, not only as we build them, but also as they are displayed and photographed, most of the time all under different lights. I don't know how many times I've heard people whine about the color accuracy of the paint, when so much of what we see is due to the lighting. OK, now let's see if we can identify this new thingy!
