Well i have instructions in a file going back to the early '80's from various kits. I have grn attached for some odd reason toe all of my armor and Gundam boxes. I just can't freakin throw them away! I wish my wife would and put me out of my misery [too bad she knows i don't love her THAT much for her to try it!LOL]. But seriously i keep all my boxes but the duplicates and i have cut the box art off a few. Really have no room for them and my closet and basement is filling up. The plan is to cut the box art off all of them but i still have too many incomplete kits!Smile [:)]

I throw away all the boxes from builds that are done. Realistically, there is no practical purpose to them, and the space saved makes more room for new models Smile [:)]
I've kept a few boxes that I use to store tools, spare parts, and what not. I also have the instructions for all the models I've ever built, save one. All unused decals are in a clear plastic bag, right under all the instruction sheets, so they're kept nice and flat.

i am a total recycler, scrounger & pack rat.... hate 2 waste anything !
but i do throw out duplicate boxes & instruction sheets.
if it's a side-opening box, i'll replace it w/ a top-opening box from some other kit
once i get 2 building so it's less likely that i'll lose parts.
i use ziploc bags 2 keep track of spare parts & templates 4 scratchbuilt parts.
i keep the instruction sheets in a dedicated 'vehicle reference file' since i often scribble construction tips on 'em...
that way if i do build the kit again, i can remember any "issues" i came upon during the 1st build.
also cut out good box art & save for reference material

Freaky. That's exactly what i do. It's the side opening boxes I have cut the tops off of. I often take the instruction to work with me and make notes on them. Also for my non-armor kits, i use the office copy machine and some color pencils to experiment with potential color schemes for cars and sci fi kits.Wink [;)]

hey fellas,
Brake down the boxes folding them and then keeping those stacking neatly in a
box of their own and than a folder for the saved directions. I can't throw mine out but I can condense them. Keep on Building!!!
Cheers Smile [:)]Big Smile [:D]Cool [8D]

I toss the boxes too. Unless the box art is pretty cool. I do keep all my instruction sheets for reference, or if someone else needs them.

some I use for spares (like the Academy Tiger box), others I 'collapse' and put into a storage bin. The box art is usually pretty nice. If I have doubles, I toss the second... third... twentieth....

Boxes out---instructions stay
I do have a few old boxes with spare parts and stuff but they go when they get a little tattered and worn or if I need somthing bigger.
Trevor Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket?

My wife's taken to using my old model boxes for wrapping presents at christmas, so my shelf get cleaned out roughly once a year.

Shock [:O] Christmas day... tear open paper... WOW! It's the model kit I've always wanted... open box... Hey, what happened to the modeling filling???Disapprove [V]Sad [:(]

I hope she starts handing the gifts out with a disclaimer...Big Smile [:D]

I'm in the transition stage of my life. I'm going from pack rat to man married to a happy woman.Wink [;)] Been watching too much Clean Sweep on TLC and I finally starting to let go of those items I've been keeping for decades on the assumption I'll need them. I have thought about scanning the instructions and box art to disk for possible reference material, but I think I'm going to do away with the paper product itself. Sure some items may go up in value, but I'm the kind of guy that will never sell it. I've even taken to building kits just to give them out as gifts. Of course, I'm only just beginning to let go, so it'll be a few months before I reach the happy wife stage, but hey, it's a start.

hehe...I've gotten used to the tactic, when I open one of those packages I look at the box....hmm, that looks familiar....

What was really funny this year was when my mother-in-law "got a panzer IV" for christmas Wink [;)] The look on her face was priceless!
