I'm back out then, 'cause of the start date again. I'll be at the IPMS Nats in Phoenix. You sure we can't do it the week prior or the week after?? I thought that we had actually done that earlier in the thread......

I understand that Hasagawa is rereleasing their 1/72 late Tiger 1 WITH zimmerit. That would be cool. However, their original late Tiger 1 kit could be built as a VERY late war production and it wouldn't require Zim...in fact a primer coat and then a hole in the side would probably be accurate.

Also have heard that DML is coming out with a 1/72 Tiger 1 with Zim and it's due out this month (Apr 04, kit #7203). It may (fingers crossed) also have individual link tracks! Wouldn't that be fun in 24 hours! Big Smile [:D]

Eric,
i think Hase makes both early & late.
but the late would need Zim . . .

greatmodels shows a Tiger I Ausf E, and a Tiger I Ausf E Late from Hase.
as well as 2 others (Tiger I Late & Tiger I Last Model)

So any Tiger I kit goes? I think a late Tiger with steel wheels would save some time. Is the Hasegawa kit a late Tiger?

I Threw together the webpage backround. Posted in new thread. I think August 8 seemed to work well for most according to the list, 11 definites, 5 maybes and 2 schedule conflicts thus far. It might be good to hammer this down soon.

picked up a 'nice' Airfix 1/72 Tiger I at one of my LHS'.
the one that discounts plastic.
a worthwhile investment of $4.99.
so i guess i am 'ready' to join in the fun.

before you all tell me how i could have gotten the great Hasegawa kit for only $10,
stop and remember what we are going to do to these things. Big Smile [:D]
i would hate to waste a 'great' kit on a 'build-bash'

mark me as 'in'.
i will check back for a firm date.

Dragon appears to have recently (April 7, 2004) released a 1/72 Tiger I with zimmerit (#7203).

http://www.dragon-models.com/html/modelnews.html

Also, Hasegawa has re-released its 1/72 Tiger I with zimmerit from Eduard.

Either of these may well be "perfect" for those seeking to build zimmerit-in-a-day.

Imagine how much fun I'm going to have only working with enamels!!! Sad [:(]

I'm figuring only about 12 hours for building and 12 hours for decals, painting, and weathering. (In my best Flounder impersonation, from Animal House) "This is gonna be GREAT!"

I think that you will find that Australia and Japan will finish first not last. They are 8-12 hours in front of us in the UK, and more so from the US.

Well, I guess...I'll definitely not be on this one. But anyway, I'll be happy to follow this thread as the date nears.

Good luck to all.

Count me in. If I can complete a M1 in 3 weeks, I am sure that I can turn around a Tiger in a day. My only concern is that my regular Sunday afternoon session in the pub and subsequant sleep may limit my building time. I wil have to get up early, get the build done, do the pub and sleep session and then do the paint and finishing stuff.
Looking forward to it.

Where can you get 1/72nd scale dry transfers for Tigers ???

I'm diggin it ausf....it's definately better to let everyone do it by their Local time zone, as I would probably be stuck waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning to try and get started, and a grumpy modeler isn't always the best with the superglue!!! And I think that your Idea about the anonomous posting on a special website is a GREAT idea!!! I have to be honest and say that I doubt I'll be posting any "In Progress" pics, or even visiting this forum, as I'll have my hands full, if you know what I mean.....What about After Market parts.....well, maybe not parts....but dry transfers as opposed to decals, is that fair game? (don't look at me like that, I need all of the advantage I can get in order to get her done on time, and waiting for future, and decals to dry is not on my "fun" list!!!Wink [;)]Tongue [:P]Big Smile [:D]

I think we just stick to our local clocks, beginning at 12:01 and ending at 11:59 on the decided date. I'll have a website set up and entrants can submit when finished, whenever finished, in their respective window. After the last is submitted, Japan and Austrailia I suspect, I'll compile the page for results. Of course progress in a thread would be fun as well, but nobody should be put out be having to submit to another's time zone. that's why the 24 hours and why we couldn't have a Zulu start time. Someone would be stuck building through the night.
I never got used to NFL football when I lived in Hawaii, A 1 o'clock NY start was aired before breakfast there. I didn't have TV(happy times) and you'd have to go out to catch it. No bars open at that hour which is a good thing. You'd go out to brunch and it would be well into the late games.

I was also thinking about the posting the submissions on the website anonymously at first so either we, or forum members, or sponsors can vote. If you post pics in the thread during the build this wouldn't be possible. If we did it ourselves and you agree not to vote for your own it would be neat to see who's the favorite build. Not best, just favorite.

I see you are a bit faster than me ArmorMaster.
Well we can do it your way, that would be OK for me.
But why make it that difficult. On the day of the build, I will post here at 0001 hours local danish time- that would be 1701 hours FSM time, and tell everyone that I have started and then i just have 24 hours, its that simple.

Mourningstar......we do know that the time difference is an issue.
But I don't see it as a problem though. The key issue is the 24 hours, sure I will start my build 7 hours before you guys in the US, but I still only have 24 hours.

I think time zones won't be that important. We could post in here to let everyone know when to start. What I mean is, maybe we could post the date of the build and the country along with the time you should start to build. So say here in the States we should start at 8 AM (and change it depending on the time zones in the states) and, to keep everyone on the same track, lets say people in Australia would start at 7PM (sorry, I don't know the hour difference from here to AustraliaDunce [D)]) but thats the princible. Someone would have to do some serious work and calculations, but we could arrange it where Everyone in any country will be starting this at the same time, no matter what time it is in their country.
