If you want a good reason for not buying it, here's one. There are lots of inaccuracies in the interior detail, some quite major ones. I'm not going to tell you what they are, you'll have to do the research yourself, and then decide whether your scratch-building skills/ access to the aftermarket / willingness to pay the price of the various aftemarket bits are up to the job.

Against this, if you have middling-good modelling skills, you can sort the problems, and, as a kit, its great value. I bought mine in 1997, and paid GBP30 (the same price as a Tamiya Tiger , which doesn't have interior detail) for it in my LHS. It took me two years, on-and-off, to build it. Think, you could spend the same money on a Tamiya 1/48 F-117, which you could build in a weekend!
Cute and cuddly, boys, cute and cuddly!

Okay, some of the above comments have got me curious...

How many of your wives, girlfriends, parents, whatever, really know what you have in your stores? If you left a newly bought kit sitting right on top of your pile, how many would notice it and notice it was a new kit? My wife never (hardly) goes in my hobby room. When she does, she wouldn't know what I've had for a matter of minutes or years. Half the time, she doesn't even remember what she's given me for birthdays, Christmas, etc.

She might not really know, but I'm not going to tempt fate..

March 21st for me. Cool.
Micheal, since you're in Europe, me the States and Matt in Australia, if he fails to fulfill his obligation, won't it be an international incident? He'll have to answer to The Hague, correct?

Heh, oh yeah! Thats right! Good for me I suppose, as its a half hour trip by train from where I am and a good 7 hours flying from you.. I'll let you know what the kits like.

March 20th for me please.

Thundergod, COOL photo of the Tiger II!

phrossh, yeah, I think a Snap Tite kit would give you fewer headaches.... Yeah, Right. I still stick with what I said this morning. But, you can get rid of the 'Don't's and
'Wont's' and such. Just go buy the thing, If YOU don't SOMEONE ELSE WILL! Then where'll you be? Cryin' in your Fosters I'd bet. Hey! I'll join you! Make mine a Guinness...
Maybe an autumn Buffet too! Except it's spring up here. Oh well.

Robert, what season is it up in Canada? Are the buffets still open??

You know, that Tiger will really look beside a Sherman. I suggest ...

No wait! Are we still supposed to talk you out of buying it?

He-he-he.

You will never guess what happened!

My ultra hi-tech security survelliance system snapped this whilst I was playing tennis this arvo.

It seems this scruffy looking lowlife has snuck into my house, stolen $70 out of my wallet, and then stuck an Academy Tiger 1 mid w/interior right at the bottom of my kit pile! Dastardly![:0]

Since I have next to know hope of bringing this cretin to justice, I guess I will have to keep the kit, and find time to build it somehow.

This used to be a nice suburb......Black Eye [B)]

That's HYSTERICAL !!!!!!! Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

I hope that dastardly villan stuck it way down at the bottom so there would never ever be a question of how that kit got there. ( Easier on the family - no police report )

I think you should just be thankful for the technology that was able to catch this person in the act. You don't need "CSI" now.

Building the kit might be the only way to get something positive out of this tragedy. I am impressed with your perseverance, keep a stiff upper lip, you'll get through this.
If it's too painful, I'll build it for you.
Thanks for the tip by the way. I need it for what I just ordered.

I dont envy you guys with GF's at all. Yes my house is lonely without one and on those cold nites when it would be nice to snuggle its even lonelier. But when I walk into my LHS I buy guilt free. Of course I think my mortgage company is getting suspicios tho.

When something similar happens to me, I usually say something like, "No, I've had this one for a while.". I figure two days is a while! I mean it's not REALLY a new kit once I've opened the shrink wrap and checked it out!!

Actually, I usually fess up and tell her what I've just bought. I've found out, especially when asked directly, that it just doesn't pay to be dishonest!

Man! That's terrible!! But it'll teach you to leave your wallet laying around unguarded! Next time you need to do that, bring it over and drop it off at my house. I'll be happy to guard it for you!! (Note; you are not welcome to inventory my kits either before or after I perform this selfless service for you!!)

Have fun with the kit! Show us the in progress pics!

Matt, Matt, Matt. Tsk, Tsk,Tsk.

I wasn't joking when I said my LHS had this kit for $50 (about 12 of them actually). They also have the Academy early Tiger 1(exterior only) for $39-99. Then again postage to SA would be about $15 anyway............but now to talk myself out of going and getting one of them. Oh, you are an evil man - all of you.

Just a quick note to let you know I am slowly getting over this devastating incident.

A word on Birthdays: Ausf, Michael and Ron, I am glad to have your birthdays marked down, but as I consider you all friends, you will receive exactly what all my friends receive for their birthdays: A handshake, confirmation that you are a top bloke, and a couple of pints at the local. BUT, seeing that you all so far away, and are unlikely to make it to my local, I shall send you a Jpeg of your favourite beer. That's it I am afraid, no tigers. As Mick Jagger once sang, "you can't always get what you want, but you can get what you need". Point being, you don't need a tiger, but we all need a pint from time to time!

Thanks for all your support!

Ron, try this. Tell her that when you see something (especially on sale) you want, you better get it while you can, because this model stuff has a tendency to come and go. And there's no telling if stuff will ever be available again. (Works for me, if not over used!!)

Matt;

Those are still available (last time I checked) at www.modelexpoinc.com for about half price. Shipping will probably kill you, though.

And those kits you bid on as well Matt.....I wasn't going to say anything until now - if you want to be anonymous, set up a new name!!!. Just a note mate, check the address of the sellers on evilbay. That guy that was booted off was based in Georgetown Malaysia, not Australia as he claimed. He had been selling stuff for months under a different persona until about February this year. I guess the number of bad reports he generated toward the end must have affected his sales and he set up his new id. If you see any new seller Id from Malaysia watch out.

Thanks Peter.

I don't like being anonymous much, and most people call me Phroosh. I do mix the spelling around though. Can't spell a nonsense word wrong!
