Edog,

Definetly an underated tank in WW II and as as a model too. Your right there is all kinds of aftermarket stuff for the PZ IV. You can dress those things up very nicely.

That's alot of road wheels if you are going to do them all at once.

Good luck with the build. Can we expect a full depth review of all the kits w/pictures ?

I wish you all the best Edog, you crazy wacko!Tongue [:P]

If you'll allow impurities, I have an Academy Wirbelwind in my pile. I was going to Zim it up, and put Academy's indys on there, but that was about it.

If you don't allow such blasphemy, I will just cheer you on from the sidelines!

I have seen it and it does look really good but I agree with you it is quite expensive. A Dragon Panzer 4 Ausf G (Kursk) sells for half the price of that Tamiya Kit.

Hey, My LHS has the Tamiya PzIV Ausf J w/ Zimmerit. I've been thinking about buying it, but it's kinda expensive. Do you have any thoughts about that kit?

Well, good luck!

Do you by any chance want your forum name changed to PanzerIVfreak or something that sounds like that? He-he-he.

It's kind of cool to see someone else who's just as much of a "model packrat" as I am. I'm currently in the middle of a build-along in another forum, but if I can get it cleaned up fairly quickly, I'd be glad to join you in a little PzKpfw IV madness!

Here's a list of my stockpile:

Academy Pz IV Ausf H
DML Pz IV Ausf F2 with Aber details
DML Pz IV Ausf G (2 kits) one with Eduard details (incl turret) and JR barrel
DML Pz IV Ausf F1 DAK with Aber details and JR barrel
Italeri Pz IV Ausf F1/F2/G (there's an old kit!!!)
Tamiya Pz IV Ausf D with Eduard details and Verlinden interior

I also have a Tank Workshop Engine and Compartment set to go into one of these.

Let me know if you start a build-along.

Pz IV madness!!

Ok guys, so I have been secretly harboring all the Pz IV info, and kits I could get my hands on. For a long time, the Pz IV has been one of my favorite tanks and I think I have finally gotten enough info, and kits to begin. Tonight I ripped the cellophane off the first kit, and began cutting pieces from the spurs. I am actually going to hold off on any more cutting until I finish up some current builds, but so far these are the kits I have purchased and plan to build for my Pz IV adventure:

  • Tamiya Pz IV H with TigerModel Pz F1 backdate and Aber details

  • Tamiya Pz IV H with Aber details, Aber turret skirts and Eduard Schurzen

  • Tamiya Pz IV J with Aber details, Aber turret skirts (I hope to add Aber Schruzen)

  • Dragon Pz IV J with Eduard details (I don’t think this kit really needs any more detail added)

  • Dragon Pz IV F2 will be built OOTB (I thought it might be good for my sanity to leave one kit built out of the box)

I also have aquired some Friu tracks, Aber fenders, an Elefant barrel, and a JR barrel. I am not sure what kit these last details will get added to, but I also plan on picking up a few more sets to add to the pile.

I did not bother purchasing the Italeri Pz IV H because I have already built it. The same goes for the Tamiya Pz IV D and the Academy Pz IV. And just in case you are interested I consider the Italeri Pz IV a superb kit, while those last two leave a lot to be desired.

Anyway, I am planning to embark full throttle in a few weeks "hopefully". Wish me luck, and I would officially like to invite anyone who wishes to join me along for the ride.
