If that is your 1st dark side model i would love to see your wingy things!!!! ===========Stephen
Seals are crazy. I have the papers to prove it . You on't jump from a plane in less its on fire. You don't swim to a shore and go hunting bad guys with wet weapons yet I did. And pouud of it. Nam 68-69

this is very nicely done, i can only echo some comments, that come dry bushing would really improve the overall look, it still looks super without it though

Very nice and welcome to the world of armor building! Your debut looks fantastic.

I completely understand the reservations about muddying up armor. When I first changed over from building aircraft, it was extremely difficult to bring myself to dirty up a model because I was so used to the relatively cleaner lines and paint definitions of aircraft. Once you break through that inhibition though, it's a lot of fun to experiment and try out different things to see what effects they produce. Every now and then I still build a "clean" armor kit to remind myself that it's still possible to do. Big Smile [:D]

Your first tank looks pretty nice Ghettochild, I think the guys gave some good pointers on how to enhance an already good build. you'll pickup the little tricks with experience and talking with the armor guys. keep up the nice work. semper fi, mike

Lookin good for a first AFV mate.
I'm working on my 2ND tank and what i like most about modeling Armour is not as much complicated masking unlike Aircraft which can require time consuming and tricky masking.
But on the other hand what i like about Aircraft is not as many wheels.

A very promising effort Ghetto. Since mud turns you off, you might spray a dusting of Tamiya Buff on the lower portions of the hull. You might highlight the bottoms of the tracks with steel to show worn spots as well as the guidehorns. Hope to see more of the Dark Side.

I usually start with a black color or similar dark color on the tracks then a drybrush with a metalic color ,silver,etc.. I then add a rusty color and finish up with some rusty pastels, as you can imagine tracks are almost never stay black.

good job, I agree. Some drybrushing on the tracks and MG would put it over the top. Good luck on future builds

Excellent first darkside project Ghetto!! You did a great job and a great subject too Wink [;)]. Just remember, the dirtiest A/C you build is one of the cleanist armor pieces you'll see!! Big Smile [:D]

ghettochild

I don't know if I could answer this but....any good dirt or mud color will do. tan, dark brown, medium, whatever. one good idea is that when you put on mud or dirt weathering, use the lighter shades of your palette to simulate dust or dried mud, and the darker shades for more resent deposits of dirt.

thanks guys.
rebal- while i love aircraft i did find myself putting off plane projects to work on this

i would like to add some mud but i have never done any. will probably pratice a little before i try it. i did paint the tracks but with a grime color, what color should i use. i thought i was dirty enough, but i guess building nothing but planes will do that to a person.

Enjoy your modeling...

For some reason the tamiya directions dont say to paint the to return wheels. Same thing happend with my Ausf D

Hey there, Ghetto dude

Looks fine to me, but I'll go along with the other guys, it could do with just a wee bit more 'dirtying-down'.

Keep 'em coming.
