If you look on page 31 of Squadrons "Panther in Action" you will see a turret in a re-fit yard with the "diamond" patterned zimmerit..

I know it's not much, but I did find this:

http://www.panzerdiesel.com/data/e/27p5_karo.html?PHPSESSID=c2fcaf106d839ffd95658218ea50cc46

There's a neat diamond patching on the hatch in the rear, and also I've see it on fenders. In fact, the Red 221 (the Early A I just did) had diamond cross hatching on the fenders in the pics I have seen and I carried the detail onto the rear turret hatch. Never seen one w/ a full hull that way though.

No need to look through your 400 pics again for anything else for me. I appreciate you looking once- no need to do it again

I figure I will have to throw the Panther A on the "waiting to be built" pile until I find an example of the tank or just get some other tiled zimmerit

A picture of a diamond pattern must be more rare than a picture of Bigfoot and Elvis together. I went to my local Hobbyland and looked through Squadron's Panther and Action and an Osprey book and all I found was a picture of a turret with a diamond pattern underneath a ridged pattern and a grainy picture of a Bergpanther with diamond zimmerit, It was very nice of Verlinden to make such an obscure set. That's sarcasm, in case it didn't translate to text. Thank you very much for looking for me.

Apparently Squadron's "Panther in Scale" has a picture of a turret with the diamond shape on page 31. I haven't seen it (my local hobby shop doesn't have it. I will have to go look at the next model show in September to see if it is worth buying)

Panthers had many different patterns of zimmerit applied to them.. The best bet would be to buy a good referrence book and build off that... There are some decent pics online, it's just a matter of finding the sites that have them..
Here is a link you can try..

Panther A Zimmerit
Posted by JWest21 on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 5:42 PM
I recently picked up Verlinden's damaged Panther A zimmerit. The pattern is a diamond pattern, as opposed to the usual square tile pattern. I was wondering if anyone had any reference pictures or any info on any diamond patterned A's. I am trying to figure out what turret number and what colors to paint it. Thanks to anyone who can help!
