Hey guys,
I got my Revell of Germany kit this weekend! I was surprised when I opened it, I was expecting the old ('70s) kit but this one is nice. It even has side panel detail engraved inside the cockpit. The machine guns are very good, much better than the old
kit. The decals are wrong for the Barons plane that he was killed in. The end of March or the first of april Germany went to straight crosses on white borders. His ship was
more of a maroon than bright red.
I've read several books and the history channel had a good show on him. If any of
are interested email me and I'll send a list of references
Good Hunting,
G.W.

Armormaster,

to be honest, the overal-red Dr.1 flown by Manfred von Richtoffen probably never was... The artbox shown on Roden's or Eduard's kits are certainly closer to reality than what Revell proposes with this new Dr.1kit. M. von Richtoffen flew several Dr.1 and most pictures showing him near a Dr.1 appear to show a 'normal' Dr.1 with the overal light blue + streakings of medium green and dark green camouflage... However, the national insigna decals proposed in the kit should still be OK for most other Dr.1s.

Thanks everyone! I think there might be something wrong with the kit though decal wise. I've seen on some pictures/models of the Red Barron's Dr L that the rudder is all white with an iron cross and the iron cross on the wings are in white squares. I don't know which is true though, so this might take some research...

Larry, nice one..! I pointed that out when I joined up and was told it was Canadian spelling... Of course, for me, living in the UK, it's peachy too!

Nice job, armormaster. I'm going to give this a shot, but I want to research the color schemes a little and find something different from the "bad color." (Movie reference.)

Say, League of Extraordinary Modellers, is what's extraordinary the way you spell "modeler?" Wink [;)]

Armormaster. Quite nice! Quite nice! You'll need a coat opf Future over the fabric-covered parts of the aircraft, just to give the finish a slightly 'satiny' look.

Sorry everyone I started early by two months!Big Smile [:D]

These were taken when I was stringing up the rigging. It's I nice kit with a good fit (mostly) but it will be a beast (especially with the rigging) in one day, but if you've done MTD your set. It's possible. Good luck I'll be looking in every now and again...

Awww Shoot, Domi !

It's a tri-plane ! Shock [:O]Shock [:O]

What are you trying to do to us "fat fingered" armor guys. I was taking your word for it when you said it was easier than the Eindekker !

Is this a trap ?

Are all the aircraft guys going to start laughing at us once we get it started ? Are you snickering right now ?

Darn, how about a Hindenberg group build ?

No thanks, sounds good, but I've allready built the kit and it's a nice little package. You shouldn't have too many problems with it. I built it in two days. Good luck though.

Armorchris,
TO's gonna fall on a sharpie, out for the season...
You cut the only guy McNabb could find.
Your backs are retreads...
Trotter can't live up to the cash...
Barrow is going to bring doen the LBs..Smile [:)]

The Freak and McNabb can't do it alone.

As for the jints:
Yeah, Warner's going to break his finger on a lineman's helmut just before he suffers his career ending concussion, all on the first play from scrimmage.

Bright spot...A well rested Ron Dayne is going to rush for 1500 before the playoffs!

Now that you know I've lost my mind....
I guess we start a NFC East thread once the season starts?

Jim,
I didn't even get the name reference, I haven't seen the movie in a long time. The title hit me when I first saw it. It's funny though, 'Gaylord Fokker' seemed oddly familiar, but about 95% of my life seems oddly familiar.Wink [;)]

You're right, that's the best line I heard Deniro utter besides, "you talkin to me?"

djmodels, yeah why not i guess ill join in, haha its sure to be a disastor, but what the hell why not, ill do a Revell 1/72 kit.

ausf- you got to be kidding me, cmon now the birds will be just fine there still the favorite in NFC East. Sheldon Brown and Lito Sheppard proved themselves last year that they can get the job done, the defensive line is healthier and now they have Kearse and Trotter and Jones, The new Wide Reciever rule will allow for more seperation, TO will demand double coverage, and give Pinkston more of a chance, Westbrook and Buckhalter are proven back, and mcnabb speaks for himself, Warner is injury plagued and a head case, Manning is young and unproven, you have a weak offensive line like last year, and Tiki is a known fumbler. The giants are still a couple years away. at least thats my thought.

The one and only. Season Tickets in the family since '56. Can't say I wish your team good luck, sorry.Wink [;)]
For you, TO or not, no back no corners.
'Boys are done without Quincy no matter how bad he was.
Gibbs is who worries me this year.

Sorry if it's a little harsh, I still get a knot in my stomach thinking of Randall running around back there (and the occassional Bobby Clarke nightmare).

Yeah, you got it - that's where I was headed
( that was the funniest line of that movie )

The real Fokker was Herman Gerard Fokker

Domi,

I'll take your word for it. You would know better than I . I am kinda partial to WW 1 aircraft ( Don't tell anyone but I have an Eduard pro-fi pak for the Albatros D V and a Glencoe Albatros D III hidden under the bed )
