Mad Allied Day?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, August 9, 2004 10:24 AM
Anyone interested in doing the Allied version of Mad Tiger Day? One day, one kit, no PE or AM (except PE in the kit). I want revenge for MTD!

It could be any kit, any nation, as long as it's a 1/72nd scale Allied AFV (By Allied I don't mean Soviet or their satellites. I mean US/UK/CA/AUS etc.)

Or we could limit it to just Shermans, but we recently had a Sherman build.

Any takers? How would September 12 be?

I'll have to look into this, sort of felt leftout in the MTD. I thought about this last night. Maybe a T-34.

How about a Sherman/Jackson/Lee/Grant/Stuart/Hellcat/Wolverine/Valentine/Cromwell/Churchill/etc.? Tongue [:P] T-34 isn't an Allied tank.

Or we could do Mad Commie Day if you guys prefer ....

Great idea, but I wouldn't be available to participate till October sometime. September is really busy with school starting up.

Me bad! I didn't read it fully the first time through. Okay, Sherman. Doubt anyone would want an open top.

Count me in and October would be better for me to as I have 4 kids in 4 different schools. I'd really like to build a Sherman myself but seeing that a lot of you guys built 2 Tigers on MTD I might like to try something British at the same time maybe a Cromwell or something.

i'm in, but September 12 is no good. I vote for any other weekend in September, or October.

No Russkies, huh? Okayyyy ...(have small stash of Russian AFV's and the odd German or two).... which is the best Shermie kit in braille scale then... MTD looked like a lot of fun, so I'd like to play Mischief [:-,] with the right kit, of course.

It's not Mad Sherman Day, though. It's Mad Allied Day.

Anyway, the Sherman was able to more than hold its own against the majority of German armour it came across, and for the rest, if they didn't break down (and they usually did), there was always a five inch rocket dying to meet its hull roof. Laugh [(-D] (and I have a book at home with photos of King Tigers wrecked by Shermans that outflanked them. Evil [}:)])

Tanks that won the war and crushed the Nazi serpent, dudes! To the hobby shop, Snedley, and step on the gas!

M.A.D. it's got a nice ring to it...October 31 would probably work even though it's in the middle of NFL, can always build and watch and/or listen at same time.

I'd be game. By then the pains of yesterday will have faded from memory. I'm in for any Sunday that the Giants aren't playing at home. Those days tend to be longer than MTD.Wink [;)] I won't be able to clear the decks as well as I could this past weekend, but certainly I could join in. One eye on the games, one on some Drab. The later the better for me.
Good idea Larry.

I've got a Hasagewa Honey. It's been so long since I built it, I don't remember if it was a good build or not. Will have to take another look at it. Don't know of anyone else.

Cool idea Larry but I have to sit this one out, too. I am dedicated to 1/35 at this time. But I will be following this event still.

Can you imagine how small that would be? It was half the size of a Tiger. That's not braille scale, that's microdot scale! I think I'll pick something big and lumbering like a Churchill.
