It's not Mad Sherman Day, though. It's Mad Allied Day.
Anyway, the Sherman was able to more than hold its own against the majority of German armour it came across, and for the rest, if they didn't break down (and they usually did), there was always a five inch rocket dying to meet its hull roof.
(and I have a book at home with photos of King Tigers wrecked by Shermans that outflanked them.
