best modern mbt?

To me the best MBT is the new IDF Merkava 4 it has in tests stood up against the best in the world includinging the abrams M1A2 and the challenger and leopard 2 of germany I work with these tanks every day I know whhat they can do cheers Oliver (IDF)

I am a Australian and from experience I would avoid the Challenger MBT as it is built and designed by the british.It is over-engineered as is all british built equipment.The leopard tank would not survive the harsh outback conditions of Australia.{our present leopards have great difficulty now}The Abrams would have to be the number 1 MBT.Australia would not buy them if they wern't.

The Australian army has just decided on Abrams to upgrade from our Leopard 1s. It won against the Challenger II and Leopard 2.

Personally I would have preferred the Challenger. Feedback from Iraq has been that nothing can stop them.
