Ryan,

I have that kit and the details on that one are very good. You can't lose either way you chose.

Good luck.

Here's who would be who...

Or I could go with the original idea and use the two bazooka paratroopers

Thanks for your comments and suggestions everyone! I'm now thinking of a bastonge scene with foxholes and splintered trees and whatnot. What do you think? This way instead of getting 2 kits, I only need one!

Ryan I agree "Of Mice and Men " was a great book. Funny thing about that book was that we were suppose to read it in a three week period. Since it was a great book I had it read in three days. So i spent the next 2 and 1/2 weeks hoping I could remember it all for the final test. But getting back on topic I would really like to see pics as well so keep us informed.

By the way, nice book to read. I always got assigned some crappy book like Jane Eyre

I had to read "Wuthering Heights" my senior year in high school (13 years ago) and that was painful enough.

For the dio, I haven't read the book, but something with a lot of drama that brings out the feeling of the book would probably be a good choice. In this case, it sounds like just about any of the suggestions would work. Post pics when you've got it done!

Man I realize I went to school a long time ago but I dont ever remember getting that kinda assignment. I could see my Teacher in My novel Class going " OK Mr Durphy I want you to build a Diorama of something you read outta "The Grapes of Wrath"" Or the other good book woulda been "Of Mice and Men"

I think that was Lt. Welsh assisting the paratrooper with the bazooka.

BTW I am also planning to do a diorama about BOB about the Market Garden episode where they got their behinds kicked by the waiting germans. It is quite an ambitious diorama and it might take me some time to get done with it.

Good luck with yours anyway.

I know, that was an awsome part about the book! I couldn't believe it! That would be cool to visit battlesites...

Nice Dwight Ta-ala! Thanks for the link and pics! Allright this is what I'm thinking... If I do the bazooka scene, I'll use This:

I'll use the guy with the thompson that's ducking in this kit.

and this one:

I'll use the guy on the ground in this kit and give him the bazooka from the first kit.

I'll make my Panzer 4 kit and use plaster with syrafoam to make the mound that exposes its underbelly. I'll have the bazooka paratrooper on the ground, while the thompson gunner (I believe it was Sgt Marten) will have an extra bazooka round in one hand, showing the action thats going on. Sound good?

This shell casing is believed to have come from one of Easy's guns, and sat there for 60 years, and then Winters' wife picks it up and hands it to him...To me, that's pretty powerful stuff.

Probably wouldn't make a very good dio, though. So my vote would be for #3.

High school dude! My teacher really encourages "creativity". You know how you have the boring teachers and the teachers that really let you do your own thing?

QUOTE: DML has some Bazooka-men and some Paratroopers so that could work. Then pop in a Stug III from DML or Tamiya climbing over the berm and wham.

the DML bazooka men are in bugdet, but that Tamiya stug, wow that will bring me over the line. Thanks though, nice ideas!

I've come up with 3 finalists:

1) When Winters is in Holland and storms the SS infantry division in the Dike. The scene would have Winters with his bayonetted M1 staring at a young SS private about to shoot.

2) The two bazooka men that ran into the field and fired at the underbelly of the stug (thanks for the suggestions guys!) I'll have two troopers and I'll have them aiming at a panzer IV (thats the only unbuilt model that sort of resembles a stug, and I don't think my teacher will notice...) about to blast it!

3) The bastonge shelling when Easy's in the forest around the town of Foy. I'll set it up by showing the aftermath with splintered trees, small foxholes and melted snow.

What do you think?

Maybe you could snag a still frame from the video (if you don't have the means, I probably can for you) Then print it off and put it with the diorama and maybe a typed bit of the book where it talkes about that incident...

Just an idea... Good luck whatever you come up with

There are so many great scenes from the miniseries that deserve to be put into diorama form. However, one scene stands out in my mind. The scene in Carentan, i believe, where one soldier carries another wounded man on his shoulder while a building explodes in the background (im sure u no which 1 i mean, its in the intro). dragon makes a figure set of a vietnam soldier carrying a man exactly like in the miniseries. i might take some skill and scratch building, but if u pull it off it will be off the hook. if u want, i can give u the name of the set with these figures, its in my basesment, my bro used it for a huey dio. good luck. are u in like third grade? im in 12th and i had to write a 6 page paper on julius caesar, and ur over here making models for english class. lucky kid. have fun with it!

Well, My favorite scene is in Holland, right when the tiger appears. The Artillery Scene is My second Favorite though.
Good luck with it, I wish I got to do stuff like that!

If you have only about a month then you should decide to build a simple dio. BOB is basically a "figures" type of story so you will be basically doing lots of figures so choose wisely.

Good luck.
