From what I've heard, you're right on the Indiana Jones Tank. Its a Brit WWI MkIV? I belive. (waiting for the flaming to begin!) I do agree that seeing German troops in 1938 with MP-40s or even MP-38s is a bit silly. Oh well.... It is Indiana Jones, so we must let that one go....

Aslo on Indiana Jones, what were the Germans doing driving a Rolls Royce? It can be so much fun picking at films we love so much.

a movie i remember as a kid was "The Tanks are coming" B&W . It's about a Co. of shermans and what happens to them so a young mech. goes to the rear and asks a general for something that can kill tigers. They send him a M-26 Pershing which he gives to a tough charging nco who proceeds to hook it up on some dragons teeth and the dozer shermans have to build a earth bridge past it . thanks for the shot. PS. it was remastered recently and showed up on AMC.

Still love Kelly's Heroes - Pink Tigers, now that would make a nice diorama for the Nationals!

I remember the old movie (70's) The Battle of Bulge, excellent. The M-26 represented the Tigers II and M-24 represented the Shermans, many scenes in combat. With great stars as Henry Fonda, Robert Shaw, George Montgomery, Charles Bronzon, Telly Savalas and more. The last time that I saw the movie was 10 years ago. finally, a "friend" robbed me the movie. The movie it will be possible to obtain again?, where? help please. Thanks!

I just watched a Canadian film, called Peacekeepers. It has very accurate armor; Canadian Mod M113s, M35 trucks, iltis utility vehicles, etc. The equipment was apparently on loan from the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. You can't get much more accurate than that.

I was watching Rambo III today and was wondering if anyone knows what sort of tank he drives at the end into Helicopter? I thought it might be a T-72. Was a bit surprised to see something that modern for a film made in those days. Normaly they use T-55's. I could be wrong but it kinda looked like a T-72. Was also surprised to see a BRDM and what looked to be a BTR-60. Even the Puma done up to look like a Hind wasn't too bad. On the subject of Hind's in films, in "Red Dawn" were the Hind's in that Puma's as well? They did look like a Hind A.

i really liked saving private ryan for it's detail.and sahara has a remake with jim balushi playing bogarts role as SGT Gunn.also i remember a movie that i think the title was the race that was about a american P-40 that was hit and a german tank chase's him accross the desert.and when the german tank would get near him he would start the plane and get away from the tank but the plane could not fly but only start and taxi very fast out of range of the tank.lloyd bridges was the german tank commander and doug mcclure was the pilot.if anyone seen this movie let me know. I thought I was the only one who likes that movie! It's a favorite of those who love to point out glaring inaccuracies (and this flick has a million of them!).
By the way, the Tiger IIs were M-47s, not M-26s.
I've seen it for sale real cheap on both video and DVD, so you should be able to find it somewhere.

I was going to suggest Full Metal Jacket, but was not sure about the Walker Bulldogs used in the film. I am by no means a modern armor expert, but I read somewhere that Walker Bulldogs were in Vietnam, but they never saw action. I really loved how all the tanks were crammed with gear. Especially considering that this movie was made in the mid eighties, I think that Stanley did an excellent job portraying an historically accurate setting before it was popular in film making.

No one answered my question about the Tank at the end of Rambo 3. Now come on we have all seen it, and shouldn't be ashamed to admit it. Now what was it? I still think it might have been a T-72.

I've not yet seen 'The Beast' but will take a look very soon!!
As far as what it's like to crew a tank, considering the way a crew works together, jokes around between missions and depends on each other for their lives, I've never seen a good movie yet. I still get a chuckle out of Donald Sutherland's Oddball in Kelly's Heroes and am still sick of the cigar sucking greedy moron that Telly S. plays in The Battle of the Bulge.

What about "Wheels of Terror" with Oliver Reed as a nasty General? The only Sven Hassel book turned into a movie that I know about. The Pamzers looked real enough.
