Who builds 1/72 armor out there

www.ontheway.us is a cool site. I try to ignore the 1/76 slams though. I build both, and I don't care.

I build a lot of 1/72 and 1/76 armor for the variety and for the space-saving. I also build a lot of British and US soft-skinned vehicles and artillery, especially AAA, for use in the aviation dioramas I like to build.

Just showing off again with my 1:72 late/early Tiger 1 mishmash.. Built this a few months ago as a re-entry into modelling.. Just love the way its turned out. I'm not at all hasseled about its accuracy, because I think it turned out great regardless...

No, I build 1/48 aircraft. But those are my first armor models I've built since I was a teenager (about 14 years).

Nice work. I build 1/72 and 1/76 for space, convenience and variety. I build a lot of soft-skinned vehicles to go with the aviation dioramas I've built.

Thanks guys,
I'm now starting on WWII tanks. I hope I can put a pic of the Erstaz Panther I just finished this week on this site. The two tanks below are my first attempt at 1/72 armor. They're just OOB Italeri/ESCI kits of an Abrams and T-62.

yeah I like doing 1/72 for fun too, and yes it is very easy to do one in a day, but for more serious modeling I do 1/35. I do 1/72 because it is very cheap and you can find just about every main vehicle in it.

Frostygirl, you should check out Doug Chaltry's website http://www.ontheway.us/default.htm. It has all kinds of pics and info on 1/72 armor, and lots of construction reviews.

Guilty as charged. I can place them beside my 72nd aircraft for size comparison. I was backdating a Revell M-2A2 Bradley into an early variant when my kit got sucked into my Davis-Monthan shelf.

I'm just getting started, but I'm already addicted...1/72 is way cool for "making the scene". I'm planning on a couple of dioramas to begin with: a small desert refueling depot for a Challenger, and then a winter theme ( I haven't decided which MBT will star in that one... I just like the idea of tanks in the snow).
Please send any construction tips, even the obvious ones. I'm so green, I need all the help I can get !

Ever since I got back into the hobby, I have been sticking mostly with 1/72, with some 1/76. Between all of the kits and figures available, it's pretty easy to model just about any era. The overall lower cost and smaller size is a real plus.

Right now I'm working on a dio of Mongols vs. Teutonic Knights, with close to 100 figures involved. Couldn't do it in a bigger scale. Cool [8D]

I do. Most of my AFVs are at that scale (or similar: 1/76). Lots of choice nowadays, decent kits and good prices and above all, I do not need a house extension to display my dioramas!

I occasionally build 1/72 armor but mostly 1/35. I am an armor enthusiast and figure enthusiast. my next project will be in 1/72 and im trying to decide wheather to do a eastern front battle or a roman legion.

I build 1/72 armor, among other things. Currently I'm working on a Eastern front Diorama with a Tiger, Wirbelwind, T-34, and Sd.Kfz 251/9.

Hey Guys,
I mostly build 1/48 aircraft. But a buddy of mine got me into building 1/72 armor as a side project when I'm between working on aircraft. I can say that I've become really addicted to it. It's cheap, plentiful, and I can build a piece in about a day or so.

I'm wondering how many of you armor guys out there build 1/72 armor. Just looking for some more friends to talk and converse with.

I'm currently finishing my first scatchbuilt conversion, an Ersatz Panther. During the Battle of the Bulge, the German's disguised Panther tanks to look like M10 tank destroyers. An easy conversion. I'm hoping to have pics on the web this weekend.
