Impressive.....just a question, how you matched the Academy Bradley interior with the Tamiya kit? Any modification or just fit up straight?

thanks and congrats again

cheers

Thanks.  The Academy M2 is an exact copy of the Tamiya M2.  Both came with the interior.  The Tamiya M2A2 ODS uses the same lower hull as the M2 did.  The Academy interior fits right in place.  No modifications needed at all.

Thanks Zok, glad you like it.  As to the pic though, I have tried it before and can't get it to look right.  It always looks like a pic glued on to me.  The shadows and colors never match.  Angles always seem off.  I think I will just add the power pole.

Very nicely composed. Been watching you build up the M2, and saw the figures painted up. Great to see the finished piece. One thing that may add a greater element of drama than the telephone pole is maybe a backdrop print glued to one side of the diorama.

Nice one .... however what figures u use ? trumpeter ? or resin ?

Thanks.  Straight from the original post:

"The figures are converted Dragon ODS era figures with home cast resin torsos wearing modern IBA vests and gear. "

Trumpeter's OIF figures are a mixed bag. The Dragon figures are better all around and I could better match the poses I wanted with them.

The Trumpeter ones have softer detail and the heads are trash. Other than the torsos and some of their gear, the Trumpeter figures are pretty bad.  Trumpeter's weapons are as nice as Dragons though, which are excellent.

Given the choice, I would rather convert the Dragon ones. They look much nicer with crisper molds and finer details. More variety using their older figures as well.

Thanks guys.  Glad you all like it.  Currently taking m60a3's advice and adding a telephone pole.  I'll post an updated pic some time tomorrow.

Next is another build for a customer of a Vietnam UH-1D Dustoff coming in to pick up some wounded.  I'll be using the Panda UH-1D and Cobra Company corection/detail set.  It will have an interesting twist too.  Should be starting on it soon.

Great looking dio, HeavyArty!  It's got to be harder to try to match your work to a picture vice something you think up on your own.  Another fine example of your excellent attention to detail and breadth of knowledge.  What's next on the slate?

Out-freaking-standing, Gino!

That 3rd pic shows up the best.

You rock, Arty, I didn't want to offend, I just thought maybe it needed a little something more. It's great. Thanks for your gentlemanly reply.

Thanks.  I may add the telephone pole.  It would add to it.  I can't really make out the details of it in the pic well though.  I may just wing it and go with a square pole and some wires.  We shall see.

Gino, your work is always outstanding. You have done it again. I know I am not yet in your league, but something about it seems a little too plain. Maybe a telephone pole with some wires down or something might help? Of course I am not the customer, nor the Artist, so forgive me. It just seemed to lack a little something.

M2A2 ODS in OIF dio, "On Patrol" done...(New Pics)...
Posted by HeavyArty on Monday, February 6, 2006 9:20 PM

This is the completed dio for a customer of grunts and a M2A2 ODS Bradley from 3-15 IN, 3ID in Iraq, 2003.  It is based on the below picture.
The Bradley is the Tamiya M2A2 ODS with scratch pieces added to fix what Tamiya missed.  The interior is from an Academy M2 kit (copy of the original Tamiya M2 kit).  The figures are converted Dragon ODS era figures with home cast resin torsos wearing modern IBA vests and gear.  Flags and 3ID patches on the figures are hand-painted as well.  The base is plaster over wood.  I painted it with enamels and weathered with acrylics and chalk pastels.  Hope you like it.  Comments welcomed.
