Gino, that isn't a laser range finder in the Magach anymore, I'll get my book later on and tell you exactly what that was changed to.  and No this isn't an A3 it's an A1.  Don't forget the Israeli's only have the shell of an M60 anymore.. the systems and armour are so upgraded that the only thing saying it's an M60 anymore is the exhaust!

Yup, Israeli stuff is a pain to try and pinpoint what is still left on them from the original vehicle.  Also, they have gone through so many changes that two vehicles that are supposed to be the same version will be very different as well.

in the future, it would probably be best to cut all excess decal  fil off and have just the color remaining. For now it's not a glaring error so just leave it and be happy with a good model.

oh believe me I'm not sweating the criticisms. I'm not arguing with you at all, but to answer a question here too, the kit didn't come with clear instructions at all!  I had to look at pics of the real thing inorder find where parts go while referencing my instructions :D  the instructions were printed on a piece of computer paper, by either a laser jet printer, or an even older one, the one that used dots... so research was and IS a MUST with this conversion kit.  The academy kit is the M60A1 kit.

Tankmaster, I know about the problem and it's bothering me, the dull coat nor the solvents for the decals did anything to prevent that.. unfortunately the decals for IDF stuff are very limited and I had to use the Academy ones to try to get something to work off of a reference I had...   They are dulcoated to the nines, but some of that happenend.. if you or anyone has an idea on how to fix it, I'd love to hear it

LPT319, welcome to the site.  Before you start throwing stones in your first few posts, take a look at what advice is being given and by whom.  Just because you are the new guy, you may not be familiar with the whole "constructive criticism" concept.  We give eachother advice on improving our models.  It does look great, but can be improved as well.  No model is perfect and we can all learn from eachother's builds.  No need to start off on the wrong foot and make yourself look like an ass, similar to your perceived "poor customer service, don't buy from X" multiple posts.

Really nice work james! I see nothign wrong at all except for one small decal problem- with the dusting, you have highlighted the decal film clearly on the "2" on the turret. Other than that, it is really your best yet.

That's a good looking tank you've got there.  I wouldn't know if there were anything amiss, so I'll defer to our experts here on those issues.  But I thought you said in your original post that this conversion was a pain.  Can you amplify on that point?  What about it gave you problems?  I think the Israelis have some interesting ideas on armor design and would like to build a few of their tanks when I get through the pile I've amassed.  I've got a Super Sherman in the pile already, but would also like to build a Magach and Merkeva.  So any pointers you can provide would be appreciated.

Not saying you are wrong, like you said, nothing is "always" one way.  I would venture to say that the tow pintle(s) you saw were installed incorrectly, the would not be able to pull anything in that manner.  No pics of the sight cover on an Isreali tank, but here is an M60A3, as yours is based on, since it doesn't have the left side sight bulge. If it had both sight bulges, it would most likely have the mechanical incidence rangefinder installed.  You can see the cover on the laser rangefinder on this US M60A3.

Maybe the Isrealis don't care about the exposed laser lense.

Good luck on the lights.

Arty, thanks for the info on the lights...  I'll look into it, on another note the ammo is as is as I have seen some pics in books with small amounts of it hanging over the edges of the box.. here's a link to look at, and tell me about the hinges and such on the laser range finder and what not, please refer to this site with the pics.  First a little info on the Magach, as not ALL of them are based on the M60A3...  this is from www.israeli-weapons.com, "Magach 6 is a name for M60, M60A1 and M60A3 in Israeli service. Fitted with the Israeli Urdan cupola.
and Blazer armour (ERA). "  That is about the Magach 6, now for the Magach 7, yes there is a method to my madness, taken from the same site, "Magach 7 is upgraded Magach 6 tanks without the Blazer armour. This upgrade included thick slabs of passive armour added to the turret and hull front, armoured side skirts, new fire control, thermal sleeve for the 105mm gun (as on Magach 6B) and  Merkava Mk 1 tracks as on (as on Magach 6B). "  The tow pintle mounts are angled according to the references I have namely modern israeli tanks and armoured infantry carriers 1985-2006.  here's the link for some of the pics I used as references from the same site listed above http://www.israeli-weapons.com/weapons/vehicles/tanks/magach/Magach_7_Photos.htm  Hope this helps.. thanks for the tip on the lights, looks like that in my books too, but I just couldn't figure it out!  It's not that I don't agree with what you're saying, but it is easy to say that with IDF stuff, NOTHING is wrong!  :D  except the blackout lights.. I'll fix that tomorrow

Looks great.  Nice weathering and finishing.  Couple pointers for you on the finer points.  First off, the tow pintle mount is upside down.  It should sit level, not angled down.  Turn it 180 degrees and it will be correct.  Second, the tail lights are painted wrong.  Only the upper oval on the left side is a red lense.  Below it is a blackout marker light.  It is best represented by a gloss black, horizontal  line.  On the right side, it has a blackout stop light on top, and a blackout drive light below.  These are represented like the left by two gloss black, horizontal lines.  The front lights are off too.  The housings are identical on both sides.  As such, when looking from the front, the clear lense is on the lest side, the right has the blacked-out IR driving lense. You may want to check your referances, but on the Magach 7, top loading air cleaners were used (since they were built from M60A3s), not the side loading as in the Tamiya M60A1 kit. They would not be able to open completely for changing the filters with the side armor that is next to them.  Also, the right side sight cover on the turret (rounded bulge sticking out) should have a hinged door on it that covers the laser range finder.  The left side one was filled in and smoothed over so it is no longer present.   To avoid these problems, an M60A3 kit is really needed for the conversion.  Lastly, the ammo on the FN FAL MGs (L7A2/M240B) should be contained in the boxes, not hanging out and over the far side from the gun.  They would serve no purpose in that fasion. A good job overall.  A few corrections and it will be totally accuarate as well as looking good.

wow, great detail.  I love it.  do you have any pics of the whole the tank, not just close ups?  I'm curious what the whole tank looks like, I've never seen a Magach 7 before..  very nice!  thanks for sharing.

Hey all this is Academy's M60A1 kit with Legend Productions conversion to Magach 7.  I really love the sci-fi look of this tank even though the model was a pain to put together.  This will have a finished base and figure (rabbi praying over it) to finish, but here's the tank!

hope you like it...
