How are you going to paint the interior after installation? Especially the MG and such. Since I've built one, I strongly suggest subassemblies, which you probably have concluded on your own.

Thanks for the comments tread!

Ben,

The damage to the racks was pretty severe...some of the shell tops had snapped off, and one whole side of the frame support was just gone on one element...too bad really as they did have some very nice detail.

Tigerman, I've come to the same conclusion, the interior spaces are very tight with lots of little nooks and crannies. Best way I think is to keep sub-assemblies for the compartment sides, the gun ount and front, and the hull to facilitate painting and final construction of the interior. Have to play with that one a bit I think, but so far from looking at the instructions and doing test fits, that seems to be the way to go. Either that or find a way to magically shrink my AB to be able to fit around inside everything. Big Smile [:D]

The start of a ten bell build!

The steps you mentioned is the correct one. I bought the Osprey "Modelling Marder..." and in the book it showed that for the Marder you are building, it is best to leave the gun mount and front and the hull saperated for painting and weathering purposes.

Once you are quite happy with it, then they can be assembled.

The exterior can be done after that if you wish.

Thanks Jmc!

Ben,

Always nice to get validation from a published source on what appears logical but could end up causing headaches through trial and error. Big Smile [:D]
