Ron, Guess we'll have to trust to Robert and his ilk to let us know the relative merits and accuracy of this one, I guess. It looks like an M36 to my untrained eye, but I'm not a Shermanaholic! (But I'd like to be, and I'm working on it!!)

Have a good one;

Hello, gentlemen (any ladies here today?). Smile [:)]
Please allow me to take this opportunity to confirm what I think I know about the M-36. Dunce [D)]
There where two versions, right? One with an M4 chassis and hull (like the Italeri kit), the other with the M-10 business (like the Tamiya and this new Academy kit), both with the same turret equipped with a 90mm gun. Yes?
And both were both called the M-36 Jackson, right? Interesting!

Close Brian. Really close.

The M10 hull style is the M36.

The one on the M4A3 Sherman hull is the M36 B1. It was an expediant measure to get the 90 into the field a little quicker.

Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

So Robert, how does the Academy box art look? Does it seem close to being right?

Aaahh, so the M36 B1 (with the Sherman hull) was fielded first, followed by the M-10-hulled M36? I see!
Thanks for that info, Robert.
Greatly appreciated!Big Smile [:D]

So the B model came before the one without a designator! Kind of like the Panther D coming before the A, I guess. What's with these designers?? lol

At a glance it looks good Bill .... certainly on my list of items to get when it is released here. From what I have heard it comes with a couple of different options on which version you may want to build. Different glacis plates, one with and the other without the hull machine gun. Should be a decent kit.
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

Bill,

Just pullin' your leg(s), I'd imagine, judging from the M10 on my shelf, that this will be a nice kit! I talked to a few old fellows who did the M10A1 to M36 conversion at Massey-Harris in Racine WI (USA ... no, it's not near Utah), and they said the conversion work was interresting, but really, really difficult and dirty.

Ron.
