Thanks for the heads up Eric!  BTW, is that Jagdpanzer IV with the disc pattern yours??  If so, NICE job!!

I've been checking out the kit and the detail definitely is a little soft when compared to the recent Dragon kits I've been building.  I guess I should expect a lot of mold seams and gaps...normal with older Italeri kits!!

Maybe we should rename this to a Jagdpanzer build. Tongue [:P]

Ernest I forgot to comment on your build. I can't attest to the accuracy, but I built a StuG IV many moons ago and I recall no problems at all. I'm sure there will be the usual tube of putty that is required on most Italeri builds.

As for the disc-pattern, I was thinking maybe you could punch holes in an index-card. I don't know if there is an easier way.

Eric, thanks for that photo of the Jagdpanzer with the disc pattern!  Very interesting....someone said use a circle template to do that?  Looks difficultConfused [%-)]!!

Hermes, thanks also for the photos and color schemes.  I just noticed that the scheme on the Italeri box seems to be a disc pattern!!  I must be Blindfold [X-)]!!

Fortunately there's some time before I have to worry about a paint scheme...at the worst I can go straight dunkelgelb like this one I saw at the 2007 IPMS Nats:

Don't know who did it, but it sure is nice!

That's what happens Mike, people share their builds and it does spike interest. I've always liked them, but they seem to be overshadowed primarily by StuGs. The thing I dread is the wheels and tracks. Yuck [yuck]

My Johann Huber kit comes with PE schurzen and an aluminum barrel. This build will keep me busy!

Here's a good example of the disc-pattern.

Yes Ryan, that is a unique scheme, can't say I've ever seen it before. This will be challenging.

This one's a StuG, but it shows the disc pattern to good effect.

My German is very poor, but I think Schulungsfahrzeug translates to "school vehicle" or "schooling vehicle".

Jagdpanzer IV pics:

Disc pattern

Soft edge

Solid Dunkelgelb also seems to have been quite common

The "ambush pattern" per se was not applied to Jagdpanzers. They used the factory-applied "disc pattern" and not the over-modeled ambush dots.

While we're on the topic, I'll post a picture of the vehicle I'm modeling:

What size template, or can you punch holes in an index card?

Any threads on a good Jagdpanzerscheme would be appreciated. I hope there were some soft-edged schemes for later versions.

The ambush scheme might well have been applied to Jgpz IV/70. I'd consider the disc scheme, though. It's nice, and you just need a circle template to spray through.

Well, I'm home today sick with the flu Yuck [yuck], but that won't stop me from getting some model work done!!Big Smile [:D] .....at least I'll try....

Anyone have experience with the Italeri Jagdpanzer?  I'm not looking to correct any accuracy issues, just concerned with assembly fit and such.  After looking at the kit last night I decided that the kit tracks would be replaced with some old MK non-workable tracks that I have and probably needs an AM barrel...any suggestions for a suitable replacement?  Most of the tools will probably be replaced with better tools from the spares box.  Also, I want to do a late production vehicle with the upturned exhausts and steel wheels in front...the only markings and paint scheme on the instructions are for a monotone dunkelgelb scheme.  I would prefer to do an ambush scheme unless its not appropriate for late war vehicles.  Any ideas on this?

Here's the kit:

This is the old Modelkasten nonworkable indie links I plan on using.  According to MK's list of tracks this type would have been used on late Pz IVs and Jagdpanzer IVs:

Thanks all!!

I've heard that the Tamiya is the best on the market, but as of yet, no late model. For the $$$, I haven't been impressed with the reviews of the Eduard kits.

DHM, we're insane, but in a good way, so fear not. Muhahahaha. Yes, is the Tamiya kit 1/35 or 1/48?

I'll have you know the instruction sheet is exactly one (badly) photo-copied page long (in Russian), thank you very much! Big Smile [:D]

Try one of them Tamiya 1/48 kits.  Quarter scale rules!!  =P   As far as number and breakdown of parts, they are just as good as their large size brothers.

Huh, funny you mention that...I just managed to snag a couple of them on Ebay SUPER cheap, figured I'd "see what they look like." Whistling [:-^]

Sadly, neither one qualifies for this GB. Angry [:(!]

If it looks like there's an over-abundance of Hellcats, I could always do an M10 or Achilles instead...same deal with the StuG. Gotta do something German, though. Mischief [:-,]
