I love this tank!

The paint scheme, the weathering, the battle damage just fit perfectly together.  Those impact marks really add to the beat down nature of the "beast."  The huge E-100 and Maus have a soft spot in my heart as well....

There's an episode of Hogan's Heroes in which Col. Klink is to receive a medel for his outstanding work as a POW camp commandant.  This presentation is to be done over a live radio broadcast, so Klink would have had to do a speech.  He runs his speech by Col. Naturally, Klink was quite confused at Pat and Mike.  Naturally, he had to adjust it to the audience, so "Bavarians Hans and Franz were walking down the road one day......"

It's classic!  Sorry, off topic, but seeing Hans and Franz suddenly popped that into my head and I had to share.

Ill bet the germans would have kept the tranny from the Tiger and KT so with all that extra weight these things would be standing gun inplacements as they would break down all over berlin. lol.

I was reading Bill's comments.  I agree with him if we are talking about a tank shell, but what about a panzer faust or panzer shrek (I'm sure I misspelled the last one).  With a tank tread in the way, wouldn't it would take the brunt of the charge and lessen the likelihood of penetration.  That's why we use slat armour on the Stryker, right?  Although, I'm not sure that the track section wouldn't be more messed up from a hit, but it seems like a a plausible scenario (I can't be certain, I've never been shot at with an RPG while in an armoured vehicle - maybe Rob or one of the other active duty guys would have some insight).

Oh lovely work Doog. I have this monster in braille to do and your big cousin build is inspiring!

The Commander (Hans?) looks rather pumped up after perhaps popping another IS-3? Is he an ace now?

I think it's important to not lose sight of personal touches to models, whether or not they are 100% technically correct. I mean, I wouldn't have added a Pak 40 as a secondary armament or a set of PZ IV schurzen on rails to something like this, but a little "what if" on a spare track is within "plausible", perhaps? 

Who knows--it could have been like a Russian RPG or something? Hey, if we're going to postulate a tank like this at the end of the war, hypothetically, anything is possible??

Madmike--I built up the 1/72 version of this, pretty much OOB; I liked the look of the kit; I just wish I did the hull corrections, but in that scale they're not that noticeable. 

Hey, I know you like 1/72 (like me ); did you see that the new "Armor" magazine is all 1/72 builds? I just picked it up and it's COOOOL!!!!!

We do not get that mag down under, more the pity...Sounds great though as the major publications focus on 1:35 .

About 60% done with my 1:72 Su-100. Looks good so far, very pleased.
