These are a photoetch nightmare!!     I'm in the same boat you are in when it comes to space. I've just about gave up on building multi engined 1/48th scale planes. There's just no place to put them! I've also involved in two 1/16 scale roadsters which will end up being about 18" long. And then there's the big 1/8th inch scale 32 Ford down the road. I need a bigger place to live! Between haveing 2,200 LP's and about a thousand CD's plus about 180 kits in my seemingly ever growing stash I'm running outta of breathing room. gary LOL! Gary, I'm sure that probably half the guys (or more!) on this site are in the same boat as we are!

what makes me mad is that all my LP's are just setting around except for maybe four hundred of them. I was in the process of have new LP racks built by an Amish cabnet maker when all those storms rolled thru here in June. The whole town he lived in was leveled! My whole loft is stuffed with LP's, and there's about two hundred setting in front of my stereo system downstairs. The place is like a giant junk yard right now.

    My girl friend was over here a couple months ago, and she said I needed to have a garage sale!!!! (ex girl friend)

This kit is stunningly beautiful, Doog. I never would've noticed the sit being too high but, since you corrected it, it just looks perfect. Kudos to you for goin' back in instead of leaving it.

I DO like the big clipper ships, but they're so big that I wouldn't have anywhere to store one if I built it. The Cutty Sark is down at my parent's home in Pa, in a big bookcase. Besides, there ar etoo many Armor and car models yet in my stash that I have yet to build--and am eager to get to!

I have a '69 SuperBee painted up already and gassed out; I'll be foiling it soon. It's a much better kit than the Charger was, and I'm looking forward to completing it as well as the Charger came out---hopefully?

It's yellow and with a black interior and black stripe...I've also got an old "Johnny RUtherford" McLaren C/D--the first model I ever remember my Dad building with me! It'll be a hoot to finish that one!

Subfixer, I gotcha covered on that one--here's a pic of my old Monogram USS Cutty Sark. I built it like...oh.....12 years ago maybe?! It was a fun build, but it's the only ship I've ever done! The rigging nearly drove me mad!!!! LOL! 

 Man you sure took the advice and ran with it. Looks like something me and my friends played around with in Highschool. Looks like it could be parked right in the drive way waiting for us to go cruise for chicks. ( Before my mini-van days)

 Only thing noticable in the pics is the dust from your dremel. If you are worried about the finish use a little silly putty the same way you use tape on lint. Works great on gloss finishes and clear parts. Something we don't mess with much in armor.

Great work! Way to expand your boundries. Still waiting for the modeling girl posing on the hood like in the 80's music videos.

Well, here's some of the small corrections and additions that I made to the Charger 500.

First, I corrected the "sit" of the model somewhat; what a sincere PITA! I got out the Dremel, and scraped/ground away quite a bit of plastic around the windshield base and various other chassis/tub points. One thing I know is that I got the fromt end down, because I had to then grind out some of the hood to clear the distributor. I aslo painted black in the insides of the rims correctly.

And I also filled in some of the body panels where you could see space through the sides and under the windshield--here's a square piece of strip that I used here, and in the second pic, you can see some strip that I added to the side "wings" of the engine compartment where you could see air under the sides there...

WIth the body on, you can see how I fixed the wiring of the battery. The one red wire goes to the starter, the other one goes into the dash along with that tangle of wires that I also added--they were so prominent in reference photos. The black ground wiregoes where it should as well.

Here's where the starter was/ I also changed the color of the tranny case. I painted the starter in silver, as per that reference shot that I posted.

I also corrected the body where the trim around the windows continued on the 500. I added a piece of .010 X .040 strip, and then foiled it.

I added a lock to the trunk...

Two more shots of the interior for good measure...

And one last thing--this is an edited post here--I put this up over at Scale Auto, and a guy over ther epointed out that the "A-pillar" between the windshield and the side window still needed to be chromed--so here's the final addition.

I also shortened the antenna....it's done...a good learning experience, and a model I'm proud of; can't ask for more than that?

I think this kit also has a rudimentary starter; I found a blob  that looks like one, LOL! I can easily weather the tranny a little more--thanks for the info--I should have some new update pics real soon!

Thanks for that good info there! I believe that the ground wire is adequate where I have it located; it's directly from a reference photo that I have. I'm wondering if the negative cable, from the battery, is supposed to be grounded on the chassis, not the engine.

Not a correction, just a question. Excellent build, btw. I've been looking for a '66 Charger to build for my dad.
