Got TWO of those, real nice Bikes & Kits, I like the lateral V-Twins (i.e CX500 Turbo, Moto Guzzi, Silverwing, etc).
Pity not more makers use them, same with the 6 cylinder engines.

One of the shops here got the Moto Guzzi California in large scale with FULL detail, perfect for a cut-away model to show the workings of the gear-box, brakes, etc. Pity it costs about USD 300.

Everybody else happy with the Bimota?

Shall we start the build beginning of February to give everybody time to get theirs?

Mmmm.. That Bimote looks good, MMF..! It's still available here, at a price of £19.99

As soon as I've got the 'go ahead' I'll order it!

Mid- Feb would also suit me better than an earlier start.

No consenus yet. Sad [:(] Might replace this thread with a Poll.

So far we have had:
1.) Road Bikes & Custom Choppers
2.) RC211V
3.) Racing Bikes
4.) Italian Bikes

At the moment i can think of only ONE Bike that would fit most of those categories and one I have been itching to build:

Tamiya 1/12 Bimota Tesi 1D 906SR

Nice bike, slightly complex build(due to the new steering mechanism & metal parts) and it could be chopped and modified for a custom racer.
Also nice to add custom tuning parts.

Now I am not sure what the availability of said kit would be overseas, here we can still find them in the shops (I hope, but got a started one on the shelf). HLJ got them backordered with no orders outstanding.

Lets hear it from the guys and gals, shall we go for the above Kit.

I myself got 1/12 Bike Kits by Tamiya, Aoshima, Imai, Revell, Gunze Sangyo High Tech Kits & 1 Heller BMW Police Bike.

Any kit in 1/12 regardless of maker should be acceptable, each company got their good and bad points.
Very few Race-bikes in the lot.

Tips for the guys that want to make their kits look more realistic get 1mm & 0.5 mm Tubing (0.5mm Spark plug wire will also do).
I already got those as well as Hose connectors, spark-plugs, mesh hoses, oil tubes, etc.

Good question.............and I'd love to join in. I'd be happy with either a road bike or race bike - no problems either way.
I presume the generally accepted model will be a 1/12 scale Tamiya?
I've got their Ducati MHR, 916, 888, '98 Repsol NSR500, Cup Noodle NSR250, Kenny Roberts YZR500, Yamaha YZR500R street bike, Yamaha FZR750 OW01, GSX1100 custom, and a Yamaha XV1000 Virago - all waiting to be built.
A little problem I have is that life gets in the way and I don't build quite as quickly as I'd like.......
Whattaya think?

Greengos.

Welcome ito the build. For me if it has 2 or 3 wheels and comes in kit form it will be bought and build.

Everybody:

Ok, can everybody that wants to participate post and give us their preference as to what they would like to build.

Don't think we will need a separate Poll.

A group build sounds great to me.
How about something Italian? A Tamiya Duck 996 or a Protar MV Augusta (the new type) or an Italerie Ducati Monster.

Yep, it is nice, got one sitting unbuild behind me too.

I noticed that quiet a few members here recently seemed to have finished kits of this Bike/Model, hence my suggestion for roadbikes as we also got a few Bike novices that seem to want to join in.

If we go with the road bike theme, I think I will build the tamiya road star 1600. I have a V-star and will build it to match.

By the looks of it I am looking at a start-date of mid to end-of-february.

That is one of the reason why I did the inital suggestion of roadbike, granted partially for personal reasons too.
Roadbikes would cover anything from a Black Shadow through to a Hayabusa or a Blackbird, granted the fairings on the newer bikes will hide all the detail and hard work.

Aoshima makes some great Kits and they got a good selection of customised bikes too, plenty of spare parts, PE details included, etc.
I personally prefer the late 1970's & early 1980's Bikes and love to customise those both in scale and real-life.
BTW, Katana chooper sounds delicious to me.

One other reason why I like the roadbike theme, not many AM kits out there and if you want to customise you might need to chop some fenders, frames, etc yourself. Big Smile [:D]

If anyone is interest I could post a few tips to add realism to some Bikes, like worn, sagging seat cushions, adding a windscreen to a Virago, etc.
For the guys that want to add customparts or realistic items there are a few generic AM parts out there (Spark plugs, better wiring, custom hoses, etc.)

So shall we got with a roadbike theme, would be interesting what people would decide to buil.

No starting date fixed as yet.

I think that is best decided by consensus as people will finish other group builds.

Djmodels.

If you have never done a Bike kit than an older raodbike like a CB750 or a Katana might be better suited.

I might mention too that I've NEVER built a motorbike before, so I'd appreciate a subject that's not too hard... Tamiya's and Revell's motorbike kits are easily obtainable here...Big Smile [:D]

I think it would have to be an easy to obtain kit such as Tamiya, not to expensive also.
