Super build so far, keep posting your progress. What color did you use for the engine and trans? Was it commercially available or did you mix it? IIR that model year was started with a hand crank and if you did not do it right you could get your arm broken. I do not recall what year Henry Ford finally agreed to pay royalties and use electric starters. Anyone? Again, IIR correctly that model year had cable brake activation. What year did the brakes become hydrolic? IIR spark advance was also manual and done with a lever on the steering column. The early windshield wipers were also manual, then vacuum operated and much later electric. Tires were horrible and it is very common to see those old cars with two spare tires. The gas feed to the engine was by gravity and if you had to go up an incline you would do it in reverse. Anyone know what year colors other than black became available? It was sometime around the vintage of this model subject IIR. I do not know if it is true but someone told me that one of our modern cars has more sophisticated computer power than the Space Shuttle". I look forward to seeing this build, please share it with us. Neat stuff!

I started working on this last fall. The chassis will eventually be part of a Model-T based tow truck, hence the solid rubber tires on the rear.

The model was started from the AMT Double-T kit, but has many more scratch built parts and details added. The metal rod was eliminated in the front axle. Brass was used to create steering knuckles, tie rod and drag link for fully functioning steering right up to the steering wheel. Brass was also used for steering column, throttle and spark controls, hand brake lever, brake rods and control pedals. Other details are made from styrene and aluminum.

Green for the engine is a mix of Testors green enamel toned down with some black and white. Wheels were primed and then painted with a base coat of pale yellow enamel. this was followed by artists oils to create the faux wood grain. Once fully dry, the oils were sealed with semi-dull coat. Wheel rims are sprayed with Tamiya green synthetic lacquer and Floquil black and silver for details.

This is an earlier shot of the chassis with the scratch built wrecker boom in the back ground. Battery and muffle/exhaust pipe and running board braces were also made from scratch.
