Well I am gobsmacked went in to work today and I was expecting Rolf to offer about 50 quid for the Bentley well he must really like it because he asked how much I spent on it and I told him, with the figures and extras about 130 quid and he gave me,,, I can see it in my hand but still don't believe it 260 quid yes that's right 260 then asked was that enough

Well its out of the spares drawer and put together again. My missus told my boss it was finished and she told her husband so he insisted on seeing it, I told him I was not at all happy with it but he insisted so I fixed it up and showed him, he loved it as did my boss he wants to buy it, I don't know what to charge so have left it to him, he asked how much the kit was and said he will have a think and decide how much. That's fine by me as whatever he pays will go towards another kit.

Well  though you're not satisfied, you did complete the kit and dio. So that puts you into a group of winners. Your satisfaction is, as always, optional.  So on to the next build and with your new found skills, it will no doubt be a winner too.

Hi all I have decided to put this in the spares drawer as I can see lots of uses for the parts in other dios. Thanks for following along with the build and taking the time to look

Hi all, well finally I'm calling this finished.

I know it's a bit of a let down and a bit disappointing, but its not down to the kit, its down to my modeling, so there it is, I cant do any better so I should be happy with it but i'm not.

Hi all another update, not long left on this build.
The trouble with all the sprues being in one bag together is that when they knock against each other bits fall off the sprue and you end up with a box full of loose bits. I have discovered that one of the mud guard stays is missing so have had to make one, being a reverse of the one I have it was quite confusing to do but I have managed.

also don't like the mesh over the lights so put some real mesh on them

Think another Bentley is a long way down the line, but never say never.

I am sure you all must be getting bored of this by now, but I think I'm on the last leg now.

Man! that came out  Great.

The wheels are so much better than stock.   Do like the weathering of the engine, gives it a more realistic  vs a  toy look.

Now that you have the experience, you can tackle just about anything,

so how about  that second Bentley....

Hi all not much of an update (these wheels I wish I hadn't started, still I'm getting better with each one, By the time I've done the last one I will be pretty good at it).

Just to show I am still working on it.

kpnuts

We all have had the "dream slip away" . So pack this thing up, hold it for a while and later, tackle it again.

You'll be surprised at how much you can accomplish, once you get a bit of distance from today.

As to your customer explain the situation, issue a refund and express how  grateful you would be if they would accept another attempt in future.

Regardless, you did rather well on many aspects of the build, so you're not without talent- this body part  just got away from you.

Model On brother, we are with you for your next work-in-progress

Keep at it kpnuts, sometimes we look at our work with overly critical eyes. All you can do is work methodically and do the best you can. It'll work out in the end.

Looks quite good here. I notice the body looks kind of 'lumpy' or textured, is it supposed to look like a fiberglass body?

Well I fixed it I filled my revell precision glue pot with super glue then I made a little hole in the air bubble and squeezed the superglue in the hole, then I gradually squeezed the excess glue and air out of the hole. I fixed the decals with a hair drier, I put it on maximum( I figured I had ruined the body anyway so nothing to loose) I heated the decals up then squeezed them flat with some tissue.

Well thanks for following along I dont see my boss's husband buying this now, and I've gone and taken a commission from my boss now I feel guilty now she's paid for the models and I've bought them but I've obviously not got the skills to deliver, I must have been mad to agree. I've ruined the Bentley , I will finish it but it certainly won't be on display anywhere.

These next three pics show whats gone wrong(yes I know I could get a new body from Airfix and some decals) but to be honest I cant be asked I've lost all interest in it now, I will finish it but just to say its done and get it out the way.

i'd suggest you use tissue paper and white glue to get it to shape. once that's dry, you can paint it whatever colour you need.

I understand these car bodys were covered with cloth and am thinking of covering it with paper and painting that, do you think that would give a clothe effect finish.

Well I got some rivets, nuts and braided hoses today for detailing her also found an old base from the Christie steam fire engine which was too badly broken to be repaired and anyway I've stolen lots of bits off it for other dios, so thought since its cobbled stones it would be good as a base for the Bentley. I've filled sanded and primed the people for the base as well.

I can recall drooling over that kit when first released but cash restrictions keep getting in the way of buying my own example.

I am following your build up with pleasure.

Thanks for posting the photos.

Hi all well here are the driver and admirers that will be going with this model.

They are from the Airfix London icon set, so I think very fitting.
