Show your Revell/Monogram builds-Auto Edition

Lots of crazy good builds on here. I just started on Revell's Boss 302 Mustang myself. I'd post pictures but my work is sub par at best and I'm on mobile and can't figure out how to.

Thanks, Mustang!  I actually picked up that Boot Hill Express at another IPMS show when it was in Pearland!  I'll have to see if we can make this show, but probably not to actually show.  My wife is currently on perpetual on-call until the hospital she works at can get off their duff and hire a second person to cover her position.  Until then, even Stafford is way too far away.  They're      moving      verrrrry    slowly!

The theme this year appears to be 'The land of the Rising Sun'.  I have a couple of RX7s that I've done that could fill that spot nicely.  One's a TurboII I did to replicate my 1:1 daily driver I used to have.

I have a few, but not many pictures.  Here's an old Boot Hill Express I picked up as a partially-assembled and painted mess.  It turns out it was missing several parts, so I had to locate parts from elsewhere, or scratch build.  Included in the scratchbuilt parts are the injector tubes, made from aluminum tubing, and some of the urns on top of the body.  I had to create molds for the urns, cast them in resin, and then gilded them in gold sheet:

Another is the Mercedes CLK DTM race car.  The body is completely covered with decals, as is much of the interior and underhood area.  Decal setting solution is your friend with this kit!

And finally, a Mustang Cobra Convertible kit.  I did this for a display for an awards table for an autocross event our Division held.  The car was done up to match the car displayed on the event t-shirt.  The guys working on the car are from a 1/24 scale die-cast low-rider kit:

You still have your first car kit, Joe? How cool is that. You did good.

Don't mean to pick out one model, but your Red Baron brings back memories for me too, vol. For some odd reason I looked at yours and remember mounting that radiator, some 50+ yrs ago. Go figure that out.

Finished today.......Monogram '30 Ford Woody...........

Another of my ebay, part started 'Woody' selection. I've not been able to use the wing/fender running board piece in this build as it was badly distorted, the kit may have been stored somewhere warm as it was also very brittle. This may have been why the first owner was put off building it.

Anyway otherwise the build went well. I've added internal rear tubs to fill the gap and added woodgrain decal to those and the inside of the drop down tailgate. I also added alloy exhaust ends.

I also noticed throughout my research that folks used to cart their surfboard around in these as well............

 I have two nice Revell-Monogram Builds .Trouble is , I had to send hard-copy photos to Scale Auto to get them in the gallery . I wish you could see them , It was some time back . Anyway one was the 69 Malibu Which I call MaliBlu and a Ferrari that is Box stock but the best red paint I ever did . T.B.

Jim: Now that's something I don't see built very often and you did a great job with the paint and the cals man.

Doug: Wow!!!! He busts out with the Vic! Dude that is some serious auto modeling right there! Especially for not doing it full swing like you do with aircraft. Love the scratchbuilt trailer as well. Everything looks................well...............awesome!!!

Joe.... Last time we spoke I told you I'd let you know what I had been working on, so here it is after 4 months I finally finished. (Still think I need to have you build an engine for me) lol...

This is a 1956 Ford Crown Vick 1/25 scale, AMT kit, but it is heavily "Kit bashed" and altered. This is the one I started and didn't finish for your Red Hot & Rollin GB (sorry) I got po,ed at it and put it away for awhile. Well I changed horses in mid stream I guess, and after my son got me hooked watching Street Outlaws, I took it out, looked it over and thought I'd give it another try. I (as you know) don't build many cars, but would like to do a few more as possible. Well any way, here it is...

She has a scratch built sheet metal interior, and most all the interior is also scratch, from the roll bar to the gauges and most everything else. The sheet metal was supplied by old tin trays available at most any grocerie or carry out service, (I order out a biut) lol

I tried to find a decent trailer, but the only one I could locate was a 24th or 25th scale, and it looked kinda stupid  with this car on it , Sooooo... I built one. Lots of "Plasti-Struct and spare parts were involved. Oh... And I hope my wife doesnt miss her ear rings I got the scale chain from that I used for the safty chains...

I'm also using a "56" Ford pick up to tow with, I had a different one in mind but thought , Why not? A 56 pickup, for a 56 Crown Vick... Every thiny in the bed of the truck was scratch built too.

And heres what they look like together. The 56 Pickup is a Revell 1/25 (The Hot Rod pre painted version) but that Blue paint just didnt get it so we repainted... Any way, If you should decide to do another RH&R please let me know. I'll try to finish that one! Thanks, as always your Bud, Doug

While not my best build by any means, this was my first try at auto building at 12 years old. Take a good look because you'll be seeing this one around again in future pages of this thread.
