These asymetrical intakes will add air at two stages in the fake intercooler which should add several hundred horsepower to this strange looking engine. Maybe we can fool part of the people some of the time or something like that. Hmm, this "no rules'' concept really is fun!
Max
Varooom!
You are building a concept car. I like it! Can't wait to see what you bolt on next...
You have never been lost until you've been lost at Mach 3!
Ha! A little better view of the Titanium ducting installed and some body work and cutting through the hood so that these ducts really do work! I also used some Duplicolor 2 in 1 filler/primer and checked for crazing. All is well.
PLEASE tell me that is NOT the engine that you're going to use!!! UGH!!!! It's just too damned ugly!! Interesting project though. I haven't had any place and NOW time to do anything productive. I have been uploading pictures to picture trail so that I can get some of my work reactivated on the forum when I get ready to give everything the green light again. I know how it feels to be limited by your surroundings, and by the weather itself. I'll keep watching - this looks like it will be fun although painting will be another story. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe a picture of a squirrel playing a harmonica will make you feel better?
Hey Max... it looks cool.
It's like "Corvett Summer" -meet's- "Back To The Future"
Wait a moment.... that engine look's a bit like ... like.....
The Reactor from the Seaview ????
Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"
Cool project Max. Looks like you are having fun with it. The engine reminds me of the Chrysler turbine car.
Just keep picking away at it...
Thanks Gang! I must say that I've never built a model where I find myself giggling or having bursts of manical laughter. Maybe I'm on to something in entertainment.

"It's like "Corvett Summer" -meet's- "Back To The Future"
The Reactor from the Seaview ????"
Too funny. It kinda does look like my Seaview reactor. I'd like to see Max put in a Flux Capacitor. Then he could get, "Back in Time."
Hmmm. Search as I might, no reactors or flux capacitors in the spares box. I did find this small jet engine that might prove usefull. Too much? Would two engines be legal on track day? All thing to consider.
Ha! This jet engine fits right in there. Too radical? The intake might be a little loud for the driver who would be me. Maybe some ducting, firewalls and screens would be in order. Thrust vectoring paddles might improve cornering, something to think about.
Ha! Rocket engine is a hoot! It's like the batmobile. Nice job. Lol.
To infinity and beyond, oops wrong CARtoon, this "thing" is getting cooler every post. Whats next?
we're modelers it's what we do
Hmm, this jet engine thing may disqualify us for track use. Maybe this should be a land speed record machine. Turbine for wheel drive and jet for extra boost. Being rear wheel drive it could also be used as a Drag race exhibition car. Just trying to figure out which track to go to.
HodakamaxBeing rear wheel drive it could also be used as a Drag race exhibition car.
I dont think you can use a parachute with that jet engine being at the rear like that...... You "may" want to install a couple of air brakes on that thing.
You know.... that deploy from the door's. ( drill a few hole's in them for weight reduction. )
Your build is making me think of doing "terrible" thing's to a 58 Impala and a 2010 Ferrarri.....
I'll call it, Ferala ... Imparri ???
Wow, after a couple of test runs on the jet engine it quickly became evident that you can't be pulling intake air out of the cockpit. Too close for comfort on that shreiking mouth. Air from underneath is not a good option as debris might get inhaled. Let's put an intake on the side which doesn't actually add any frontal area as it's hidden behind the fender on the front view. Actually jet intakes aren't much drag as they are pulling air in at high velocity at least that's what my Mom told me. Problem solved!
Some body work and jet engine seviced.
A single fuel tank for Jet A has been installed for both the turbine and jet engine. It should last long enough for a record run. The Titainium ducting has been completed to route outside air to the jet engine. Now we can have side windows which will improve streamlining greatly and make the cockpit livable. A paint test for the hood looks to be the way to go. This thing might fly yet so to speak.
Hey Max, it is looking pretty cool! That is a nice touch with the ducting. It really pulls it together nicely. Imagine the heat from that engine and on the back of your noggin. Probably melt your helmet. Lol.
What color are you thinking for the body? Same as the hood? Other?
The roll bar may be unnecessary.
Let's face it ... a crash at 400 MPH in a fiberglass car .... there wont be much left to "crawl" out of.
An "Ejection " seat maybe?
Definatly lookin COOOOOOOL !!!

Ejection seat? Heh, heh heh!
And Steve, likin' that silver!
Thanks guys! You drive me on!
I snorted when I saw the jet engine...lol. Fun project. And with raw jet power, you don't need to worry about hooking!
Thanks,
John
The Corvette project was to be a mindless filler while waiting on a weather window to paint the 1/1 speed attempt vintage motorcycle frame. The Corvette has been fun enough to warrant equal time share and will be finished soon. The motorcycle seemingly goes on forever. My wife jokingly says "It keeps him out of bars, at least in the daytime." A man can't have too many hobbies, I say. lol! Onward! Maybe I can take them to the speed trials at the same time. Just an idea.
Max... your 1/1 is looking pretty sweet too.
I agree about the hobbies. It keeps us out of trouble.
I decided that I had enough air intakes and laid up a new nose made from exotic carbon fiber. Actually not so exotic Bondo fill on the one I had but who's to know? I also added a complicated fire extiguishing system just in case. One can't be too careful on the subject of safety especially with a jet engine in the cockpit. I also put in aluminum floor pans as the plastic was sagging after the first jet engine test. Reporting.
I did put in a little overtime today on blending all this together even the headlight seams. This should add a few MPH to my upcoming record run by cheating drag once again!
What a fun thread. How have I missed this???
Keep it up, Max.
