I just picked this kit up the other day for the stash. I must say it does look super good in red. Well done, and excellent execution. You really built a stunner.

Awesome! The red was a much better color choice and you killed it. Amazed at how smooth and glossy that hood looks especially!

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

That turned out GREAT!!! Good stance and excellent paint and decals. I know what you're saying about that signing in business. I haven't been able to sign in to Scale Auto now for a couple of weeks. Sucks.....very much bad. Indifferent

Digging the red! One question for you did you use the kit decals or aftermarket? I only ask becase i am building this as well but the center stripe is so dark you can't really see the "skull" and the silver part over the roof

never mind, the kit I built was from when it was just released, just went and opened the one I just got from hobby lobby a couple of weeks ago and the decals are like yours, they must have either had a bad couple of sheets or changed them at some point.

Apparently Chrome is being weird and not letting me sign in. so IE it is. I actually finished over a week ago. I just haven’t been able to sign in. Anyway. Here she is in all its red glory.

I Think;

I do really like your take on the "Knight Rider" Dash and Steering Wheel.

The red turned out pretty awesome. I'm getting pretty close to finishing this one. I'm having issues fittingthe glass into the body. it's pretty finicky so that might take a day or so to resolve. but the decals are down with a layer of clear. I also decided to paint the foam pads in the roll cage flat red to add just a little more color to the interior.

The Model Master acrylics have a reputation of pulling up when masked.  I've gone from enamels to Tamiya's acrylic lacquers in the spray can.  They are just about bullet proof and dry to a smooth, hard finish that can be rubbed out within a week or two versus the month enamels take.  I like what you've done with the chassis, look forward to more.

Yeah the plan going forward is to just move to Tamiya. And I was using what I had on hand. The down side is MM readily available in my area. but Tamiya will have to be ordered online and I tend to need a little more planning to buy multiple colors at once to reduce shipping costs.

Uh-oh..... are those tires in two halves?

Nope. you're just noticing my lack of ambition to fully remove the mold seams. :)

Looking good so far. I finished this same kit about 4 months ago. Posted the build on here so you can check it out and maybe get some inspiration or ideas for yours.

Apparently the search feature on this site is very spotty. I tried to search for it with no luck. But to be fair this post doesn't show in the search either.  Luckily Google came through. Your build is fantasticYou built what I wish I had the ambition to do with this kit. But I was a little burned out after completing the Ecto. So I went straight out of the box on this one.

This build is moving along well so far but I feel your pain on the MM acrylic paint lift. Been there....done that.

Well. That didn't end well. I ran out of Tamiya paint so i grabbed my Model Masters Acrylic. So when I pulled off the masking tape, the paint went along with it. And now I get to strip all the interior that I painted, prime and then repaint. Neat.....

double whammy, the jinx was on from 2 posts up where you thought you'd be done fast and then the finicky acrylics finished it off Crying. I feel for you with regard to the paint. I still can't figure out the secret to never having the acrylic peel(aside from never ever using vallejo's primer again).

Vette is looking great. Can't wait to see the final color coat!

The Tamiya Ferrari 640 F1 car I’m building has Goodyear Eagle decals for the slicks.  you put the color side down and use water for adhesion.

Nice job with the Vette.

Thank you!

Drilling out the holes in the seat looks to have paid off. I ended up just using tooth picks to mask the holes and paint the seat flat black. I was also able to get the roll cage and dash installed. All that is left to paint the body and decal everything up. This build is coming along faster than I anticipated at this rate it should be done by the end of the week or early next week and I’ll have to find something else to work on.

Love the disc brakes and wheels.  Are the Michelin decals the reverse ones like you find on Tamiya car kits?

They are standard waterslide decals.

To be honest I'm not familiar with Tamiya kits to say one way or the other.
