excellent job on the dirtied shoes, though the base does resemble a chocolate chip cookie, LOL. Very nice figure. The eyes are superb.

Thanks, Tacobuff and Model Maniac!

JWalker, indeed the Tamiya 1/16 line is good. I haven't tried Verlinden yet, but will soon. Not 1/16 tough...

'Aight... base done. No fancy scenic things, just simple, brushpainted base.

Woohoo!

So there you see the base.. Simple one that came with the kit.

Thanks, Jim

Excellent, I see no glaring errors (what more can you ask for?). The uniform is a little flat, but the equipment helps break that up. What base will he be on?

Great build.. I too am loving the Tamiya 1/16 lineup. I have the Wehrmacht Great coat MG gunner, the Loader with tripod on manouver, the reversible winter uniform figure w MP44 and Im currently finishing up the elite infantry with pea dot camo w/ MP40. Also in the works is a Verlinden winter warrior figure that I plan on displaying with one of the tamiya figures along with a verlinden 1/16 ruined building. Perhaps a Stalingrad scene w lots of snow:)

P.S. I also have painted a few blonde German figures and my method is to lay down a brown base. Then mix brown with some sienna and a bit of yellow and drydrush over the base. Then I gradually use more yellow and less sienna and finally a bit of yellow mixed w/ light skin tone for the final highlights.. I then follow this with a wash of brown w/ sienna....

Yes, I'm done with the figure himself, and I'm downright tired now. Will fix the base tomorrow before I leave.

The decals went on pretty nice. The only wash I added was a tiny pinwash to enhance detail. It went good, I say.

And an "older" picture, a few hours old... I got the comment that it looked like a propaganda poster picture.. It sure does! (Comment from IPMS NOR forum)

Enjoy!!

Hux,

The figure's coming out great! Don't be afraid of techniques that you haven't mastered yet. Try them out on some spare sprue ... I think that you'll be suprised at how easy some "difficult" techniques can be.

Ditto on the the nice save with the MG. Not even hours after I finished my recent OIF figure did I drop him, breaking the M4 to pieces ... THANK GOODNESS for CA glue and toothpicks!!!

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Psstoff

And ajlafleche,  Thanks! I'm working on those...

Here's some pictures. Far from the best, but you see...  and I notice I have to fix the hands as well...

Here he is now.

His MG hand:

His free hand:

His face after several touch ups:

And of course, I managed to ruin the MG muzzle... I tried several things to repair it, but it was FUBAR.. So, a protective sleeve that I sculpted myself was the only good fix...

A better view:

The Lüger holster:

The MG tool pouch (Think this came out very well):

The canteen under work in progres:

And the jackboot.. Think this came out good aswell..

And, my location just now!

Enjoy it, hope you like, and waiting for comments! Smile [:)]

Makes sense to me Huxy! Again, it looks nice.

And thanks for the info on the bakelite- I hadn't even known what it was called!

You're dealing with a tough face as a pallette. Some time ago, someone was talking about it. The two sides of he face don't match. The left side is not a mirror image of the right. So gettuing it to look good will be tougher tahn a really good sculpt.

Someone else was asking about a 120mm face he was painting. Some of what I said to him appiles  here.

You might want to add highlights along the ridge of the nose, the chin, the upper edge of the lip and on the two folds of skin under the nose. Carry the nose ridge highlight to the upper edges of the nostril flare. Add highlight to the central part of the ear. Also increase the cheek highlight and bring it down along the outer edge of the frown line. Also along the top of the eyelid. Add a highlight on the adam's apple.

Add some shadows to the hollow of the cheeks, in the frown line, in the cleft of the chin, above the eyelid, in the space between the raised flesh under the nose, under the neck, along the hairline, in the hollows of the ears and behind the ears. Add shadows below the adam's apple .

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

I've heard talking of that MG34s had a Bakelite stock, never wood. I cannot be sure of this, and then I cannot be sure for the MG42.. I couldn't find any info on it, and all pictures I saw in my archive showed all bakelite black or brown stocks for the 42..   Problem is, brown bakelite stocks looks VERY similar to wooden stocks...    So I know bakelite is authentic, but couldn't be sure on a wooden one.. And besides, I can't paint wood Tongue [:P]
