Kirk's midsection is glued:

And filled with bakingsoda/thin CA, sanded, puttied:

He's drying now, tomorrow I'll get a coat of surface prep on and see where I stand.

Thanks!

For mixing parts from 3 kits, I'm happy with it.

I wanted to get more primer on today. I tried 1 coat but its too cold.

Gamera

Cool! He's lookin' Shatneriffic!!!

Haha! Thanks!

Now I just have to figure out a color for his shirt. Its not gold, more of a yellow/brown/gold. I'll mix and airbrush if I need to, but I have some Tamiya Champagne gold and Titanium gold on the way.

Thanks!

Some progress.

It's really too cold to paint, but I got a coat of flat black on Kirk today. He needs another coat at least.

I'm waiting on some paints to come for Kirks shirt, but the plan is to do his boots in gloss black, the pants in semi gloss black, the velcro tool belt in flat black. For the shirt I'll have to see what looks good. Gold is too gold, dark yellow is not gold enough. Maybe Champagne over the black? I might end up decanting and mixing.

While I wait for paint I started on Spock again. I bent his legs with hot water, everything came apart and huge gaps were the result of the reshaping.

I forced some together with thick CA glue and then got out the motor tool and ground away bits that were not going to fit.

Lots of filling to be done.

I got out the sculpting putty and went to work.

He is starting to take shape.

Next up is his hands. I'm trying a few things. First is to cut out, and laminate sheet styrene.

Using the resin hand as a guild.

I'm pretty sure this won't work out, but they are laminated and I started sanding them.

Back to Kirk.

I started working on the hand holding the communicator. I had the idea that Kirk should be holding the Pergium pump that Momma Horta stole. This allows me to use one of the Spock kit hands.

My motor tool and a sanding drum took out most of the comm. Sanding sticks/rods/files did the rest. I then used a Xacto saw blade to cut down the gaps in his fingers. It's coming along.

There was a hole that needed to be filled in the palm.

With the hand opened up I needed a main circulating pump for a PXK Pergium reactor.

Some 1/8 wire, a hole punch and some plastic dowels later.

Looking at the screencaps the prop pump has 5 or 6 inner tubes but I could only fit 4 and make the hand work.

Oh well, artistic license I guess.

UPS was supposed to deliver some paint for Kirk's shirt today, but that has slipped until at least tomorrow. :-(

Small progress on Spock. I heated his left boot and bent the boot sole to a more natural position.

One arm and both boots are glued on. I continued to sand the laminated hand, Still not happy.

The paint came today and I did some quick spray outs over flat black.

Furthest right is mustard yellow then dark yellow in the corner, next down is titanium gold then last is gold.

To my eye the mustard yellow is the closest, not perfect. It actually looks better over the bare white plastic.

Maybe hit his shirt with another coat of white primer.

This is close to what I want to end up with:

It's just dry stacked.

I just did a spray out of pure yellow over black. It's drying now.

I masked and re-primed his shirt with white primer. After it dryed I sprayed it with the Mustard Yellow.

I think it's a good color, I'll dull coat him tomorrow.

Rob, Thanks and if I can anyone can!

A bit more work done.

I dull coated Kirks shirt, I really like the look of it now, I spayed his pants semi gloss black. I also got major construction done on Spock. I think I'm down to sanding on him.

I started rough painting on Kirks head and hands:

Thanks!

I finished the small Phaser 2 and got the decals on Kirk.

Major construction on Spock is mostly done, I'm still not happy with his right hand.

This is close to where I want to end up.

The Spock is the DST action figure as a stand in for the AMT Spock.

Kirk is mostly done.

Spock is getting close.

Decals are on and his pants are semi gloss black

The boots are gloss black.

Spock is done, mostly. When the JT Graphics Spock head is available again I might swap it out. Also I'm not completely happy with the right hand that I made, but I think it's the best I can do for now.

I painted the back wall.

I didn't like the eggs silver, so I tinted them purple-ish.

Thats it for now. I could do a flat rock floor, but not now.

Thanks for following the build, I enjoyed it and learned a bit too!

You did a great job with the figures. There's no way I could have designed half as good looking a right hand for Spock. You should be proud of your work! Yes
