That's a older issue of it. Has the larger deflector dish and smooth nacelles end caps.  Looking forward to it.

I built two of those. Melted the second one trying to light it back before LEDs were readily available! 

When the kit first came out the necelles had a yellow tinted bubble.  

i still have one of them.  Later on everything except the domes were white.  

For the episodfe "Doomsday Machine" they used the AMT kit for the Constellation.  You can see it if you watch the original series run before the upgrades were made to the episodes.

Doomsday Machine,  footage from that episode in The Ultimate Computer,  The Trouble With Tribble, those are the only ones im aware of.  The balance was one of three versions of the 11 foot model  or 3 foot model, except the metal one in Capshaw. The model on the table in Requiem For Methusala was the 3 footer.

Using the original kit which cost, if I remember right, was only 2.50 back then and must have saved the show a ton of money.

Im going to watch this! I have an old AMT kit albeit packaged on a black background sitting in my display cupboard and haven't been able to bring myself to build it, so this is going to be cool.

The hardest part was always getting the nacelles to line up evenly.  Then there's the question of the three large dents, or scoops,  in the bottom of the saucer section.  What were they supposed to be?

Wasn't a model used in the episode "Devil in the dark" where the ENTERPRISE could be seen outside the station managers office on space station K-7?

Somewhere I have photo's of the AMT kit used in The Trouble with Tribbles.

It was on display at the science fiction museum in Seattle in the mid 2000's.

Thats the issue with digital photo's! I have litterally 10's of thousands of them!

Well I am slowly but surely outtying the seams.  I  hope to assemble the nacelles to the secondary hull this week.  Next week at the latest.  Maybe even get the secondary hull together and prepare puttying the seam going down the middle.  On a side note, does any recall how much of an issue the decals were for this kit?

I don't remember there being much of an issue with the square boxed kits, but im sure R2 will sell you a set of the new decals if you need them. 

If it has the build any ship decals the font is completely inaccurate.  I know there are accurate ones out there but not sure who makes them. 

You can try Federation Models.  They are in the Tampa area on the Gulf Coast and should have several companies who make decals, stencils.  I have used them several times in the past and will be needing them again after my current project is finished.

I've ordered from Federation Models a couple of times. Great guys to deal with. 

So, worked on the build for a bit.  Had this awesome idea to use lacquer thinner to remove some excess putty from some of the seams.  Did you know, that the plastic used in the 60's and lacquer thinner are not friends! :)  So there was some melting.  Nothing bad, but the model went from having grids on the saucer to now being a smoothies! :)

Smooth is actually accurate.  The grid lines were lightly  penciled onto the filming model. Lacquer thinner will melt any vintage plastic.

Hi, I'm building up this exact same model, same version - the Short Box. Will be following this closely. I'm still scraping off gridlines of the top of the saucer and waiting for new modelling putty to fill seams (I'm really starting to hate Testor's putting and trying some new ones, like Mr. Dissolved putty and Perfect Putty).

I am intending to get the new decals from Federation Models, any maybe a new B/C deck housing. I'm not planning on lighting it no matter how tempting.

One thing I noticed: there's a lot of "accurizing" parts out there, but I have seen several straight builds without them and was honestly amazed at how good they look without those parts. I'm torn if I'm doing that or not.

I read that Tamiya light Grey primer spray is a good match so I bought a can. I tested it over the weekend on some patches.  Looks like a keeper.  

Now in the priming stage.  Had to seperate the saucer just to get all around the secondary hull.
