Star Wars - Scratchbuild AT-ST Progress (more pics)
Posted by DanCooper on Sunday, January 23, 2005 5:36 PM
Today, I started my very first scratchbuilt-project for a GB on the LEM-forum. It came sort of out of the blue, since I was going to do a Luft46-subject (but to be honest, I'm really not feeling up to that yet).

Anyway, I found a sheet of 0.4mm styrene just laying around my bench, and decided to do something that I had been thinking for a while ; converting a papermodel to plastic.

I started at 0200pm and worked on to about 0600pm...

Any comments and critics are, as always welcome Smile [:)]

And if you wish to have the templates for this, just give me sign and I'll e-mail them.

Looking great so far.

Pity they never released a decent kit of the AT-ST.

Looks like a good start, keep the updates coming. I'm looking forward to seeing this one when it's finished.

Thanks for the comments, guys...StevenQ, the scale is approximately 1/35.
I forgot to mention in my innitial post that this is the version of AT-ST, used in the Battle of Hoth, if this one works out, I'll try a more complicated Endor-version.
However, I will apply a non-Star Wars camo in this one.

We'll see Joe, we'll see...

Is it the "Hoth" or the "Endor" version you will be doing ? They are different in shape and finish. I chose the "Hoth" version for two reason
1 I had the templates available on my HardDisk in the form a paper model,
2 the Hoth version is simpler in lines and since this is my first scratchbuild, well...Smile [:)]

It looks like your paper model is transfering to styrene very nicely. I had thought about doing something similair with a sandcrawler paper model.

Quick update...

Yesterday afternoon I've been working on a master for the "cheecks", using 5 styrene disks and some milliput (white) and Tamiya putty for finishing.
I'll post pics later on.

Bad new : I've ran out of styrene today and my LHS is closed on Tuesday, so I'll have to wait till tomorrow and see what else I can do...

Well guys, I've got another solution. If you go to my website (to be found in my sig), click on your prefered language and go to "Projects" and then "My current project", you will find the download in the text there. Have fun, and leave an entry in my guestbook if you like my site. Big Smile [:D]

If I recall correctly they are in PDF format. Most of the paper models I have seen online seem to use this format.

Oops did I miss this one ?
Yes they are in PDF and you can use Acrobat Reader for that, you can download it for free from Adobe.
Some paper models require Pepakura to open them, those are the PDO-files, Pepakura is a program specially made to produce (the retail-version) or to make existing paper models (the free version).

Dan, it's looking good. Would you mind sending me a copy of the .pdf? I appreciate it!

EDIT: Nevermind, saw that you made it available on your website, I'll go hide in the corner now, lol.

Dan,

I was wondering if you had downloaded all those AT-ST pics that I put up on my Fotki gallery. I need to make room for some other pics I'm going to post, so if you need more time to download them, please let me know. I will keep the originals on my laptop, so if you need to get them later I can just email them to you.

With that out of the way... how's the build going? Any progress or are ya really busy?
