Season Two, Volume One (first ten episodes) is supposed to be out sometime around Christmas, just prior, I think. Also, it's supposed to include an extended version of "Pegasus".

Noboby has seen all of Season 2. They stopped on Episode 210 and will pick it back up in January (?). As for when Season 2 will be released on DVD, I have no idea.

I have not seen all of Season 2. Sci-Fi was rerunning the episodes but stop on episode 205. I recently bought Season 1 DVD and I am waiting for Season 2 to come out on DVD. So far I have found the show very captivating. They have really done a superb job. Does anyone know when Season 2 comes out on DVD?

She has too much personality to be a Cylon. Wink [;)]

Good points though. I just hope it's not true.

As for the nuclear explosion vs. the water tank explosion, I think it's plausible. Explosions within enclosed areas build up pressure and it has to go somewhere. When the nuke exploded out in space, there pressure was easily dissipated outwards and away from the ship.

Excellent point about the explosion being in space as opposed to confined. Still the Cylons seem to have extensive knowledge of Starbuck adn consider her a person of interest when she should be nothing more than a pilot in their eyes. They also singled her out of the group during their special "baby making" project.

All too true, but still its a nuke.lol The water tanks when they exploded seeme to show an extremely thin skin on the glactica but I just try to chalk it up as a production design error. As for Star Buck, I hate to say it but she maybe a cylon...

There was a company called Greeblies.com that was producing castings of a few select kits parts and some stuff along those lines. However, it was apparently EVIL to reproduce pieces/parts like that which are hard to come by - or labled so by a few ignorant types - so I'm guess they gave up and went away. The website no longer seems to sell anything modeling related, anyhow....

Same here! I was on the edge of my couch screaming! I can't freakin' wait till next season...it's almost painful.

YES!!! The anticipation is Killing me!!LOL The only thing that has bugged be about the show as far as nitpicks are concerned is how did the skin of the Galctica take a dirct hit with a Nuke yet Boomer blew the skin open with hand held explosive devices which contained "c-5"? I'm not going to even get into Starbuck piloting a raider with the "brain" ripped out Still I love this show!! I also agree with what some one said earlier that you comparing this show with the old one is comapring apples and oranges. they both are good shows in their own righ t and in there own time. A show like the current BSG in the 70's would given images of facists or communists or even space Nazis or somthing. Not to mention they would probably have had religious groups protesting...

I was privledged to see the original BSG when I was a teen, but now I look upon it differently. The original show was essentially "campiness and corniness", while the new BSG can be defined as "mysterious darkness and sexiness". Would love to see some kits.
P.S. My first thought on the resolution was that The Pres. will promote Adama to supreme commander or something like that.

I watched the mini-series for the new BG series last night. I had never seen the first half of it so it was great watching it in it's entirety. All I can say is that I really love this show and can't wait for it to start back up in a couple months. Smile [:)]

I also watched the lowdown on BG which was a bonus feature on the DVD. It was great seeing some of the comparisons between the old and new series. Especially some of the clips from the old. While they do share some things, I can't help but to view these as being two different shows. They're both great in their own right, I don't think it's fair to compare them to each other -- it's apples to oranges.

In my oppinion, what the Pegasus episode was getting at is that, when the **** hit the fan, the Galactica ended up being as human as possible. Trying their best to keep the civilian fleet alive, to have a president that represented the people, all of that. The Pegasus, decided that the only possible way to survive was by extreme militarism.

The lead mechanic of the Pegasus was hiding something when he failed to talk about how he got picked up from a refugee ship, and put on the Pegasus. What happened, was the ship was found by the Pegasus, raided for supplies, and anyone who could be of value to them was taken, and the rest left to die - or worse. When the Pegasus admiral didn't send provisions to the Galactica civilian fleet, it was hinting at their mindset even more.

Don't try and defend the weak. Don't try and maintain some manner of civilian life. Don't even pretend your world is the same. Find a ship full of civilians with no military applicable knowledge? Do with them how you want, steal their provisions, and set them adrift. It is the best possible way to make your forces stronger, and you will have a higher capability of fighting the enemy.

Of course, it also turns you into a sadistic ammoral freak with no regards for human life.

I know I'm a real fan now. Today for the first time since I was a kid I used the word "Frac" as a swear word. My back is bad and as I was bending down to put something on the floor I exclaimed "Frac!".

Big Smile [:D]

I had watch that episode several time , and yes it is on the same design of the of the old TV series. But it had been worked on to smooth out some of the rough edges . To me this is what the old battlestar should have looked like.Approve [^]Approve [^]Approve [^]Approve [^]Approve [^]

I liked it also. As far as models go...of course. We definately need some. I would also like some re-releases of the old series also. I am not patient enough to wait for the whole EBAY thing and then it going to high not to be able to get it. My complaint with the new series is that Baltar is a spineless wimp not like the original series

Dude, TOS Baltar was a spineless wimp! The only thing holding him up was that big honkin' chair they gave him. That and the fact that he had three basestars at his command. He all but peed himself when he realized that it was Commander Cain coming after him in "The Living Legend, Part Two" and ordered the other two basestars to intercept him - sacrificing themselves to save him.

QUOTE: not to mention the original Baltar was in command of the cylons after the imperious leader died. But the was the old series.

Huh...? Which Imperious Leader? The one that died at the end of "Saga of a Star World"? Or the one that might have died in "The Hand of God"?

Regardless, Baltar was never in command of the Cylon Alliance. The most he ever commanded was three Basestars. Eventually, all he commanded was the kitchen on the Prison Barge....
QUOTE: I still like the new but there are some thing I just cannot get into, like cylons being pregnant? SCI-FI, you just have to love irony twists:):)

Awesome show and fantastic episode!

Granted it isn't the 1970's anymore, but, I still prefer the original series. The new one has been turned on it's head way too much for me. I'll still watch it, since it's sci-fi programming. It seems that in their quest to be different , Sci-Fi has deleted almost all the virtues extolled in the first show and made everyone a jerk.

They're shooting for a grittier, more realistic show. While I still have fond memories of TOS BSG, it doesn't hold my up so well in my thoughts, being more camp than anything. The best episodes, to me, are those where there's some dark machinations going on, where there's some conflict between characters other than the Black & White Cylons vs Colonials. I just got the boxed set in the mail yesterday and watched "Saga of a Star World" (the pilot) and think that one of the things that makes it such a good episode is seeing things like Adama's self-doubt, Apollo questioning just how smart it is to continue to allow the civilian government to run things w/the RTF on the run, Starbuck's rogue-ish manner is a lot stronger and Sire Uri should have been left on Carillon. People die - both on the Colonies and Carillon. It's not a pleasant universe.

Later episodes are all Tea & Crumpets, with almost every one ending with a happy, fuzzy feeling between everyone. The only other "dark" episodes are "The Living Legend" when Pegasus fails to show back up - but even then it ends on a happy note - and "War of The Gods" with Count Iblis. The point being, tho, that everybody almost always gets along, everybody's almost always reasonable and they all have that perfect 70's Hair going on. Wink [;)]

I think to say that "everyone is a jerk" on TNS BSG is a rather unfair. Quite a few of the characters are very likable: Adama as the gruff mlitary commander, Dualla is the upstanding communications NCO, Lt Gaeta is the uber-geeky and almost always affable bridge officer, Cally is usually very easy going and probably a load of fun to work with, Billy Keikaya is always looking at the positive, and others. Yes, Tigh is a drunk, Starbuck is an insubordinate brat (mostly to Tigh)and Apollo has a chip on his shoulder (that's slowly eroding, if you watch the show). Just because they're not all happy, smiling people every moment of the day and just because a few of them have the occasional bad day doesn't mean they're Jerks. You should work w/the folks I do and you'll be calling even the "jerkiest jerk" of TNS a saint. Well, maybe not, 'cause I reserve that label for Ellen Tigh (I use a different set of descriptive words for her). However, people aren't perfect and RDM is showing us those who aren't always at their best - warts and all.

The point is, a lot of the characters have got problems - just like a lot of us in real life. Ron D. Moore has created a show where he's trying to show that They Are us. Sometimes he beats us over the head with it, but most of the time it's fairly subtle, IMNSHO.
QUOTE: This won't be popular to say and is not meant to start anything.

It's all good, dude. I don't have a problem with it. You didn't just rail on the show, out of hand. Not everybody is going to like every show. I appreciate that you didn't bag on it.

QUOTE: I would like to model some of the ships also.

There are several good resin kits out there right now, with more on the way. Smile [:)]

Sadly, tho, we'll likely never see any good plastic kits.

That would seem like the likeliest scenario, although I'm hoping for something different as it seems too predictable or obvious. I was wondering if the XO, or whoever that guy was, or someone else was going to get a spine and stand up to her. Pull a gun on her and say she's gone too far.

Any thoughts on what that mystery Cylon ship is?

I'm with you on that, 13b20. Just not the same. And my wife, who was a diehard BG fan from the 70s, won't even watch the new series after the first episode. Me, I just can't settle into it. But the ships are cool.

I'm willing to buy the resin ones. And they are being made far more accurately than the old Monogram ones were.

Heck I created one of the resin one.

Yay resin.

An outstanding show, will be buying the dvd set of season 2 as soon as it is out. Would be nice for someone to produce some models! Have seen the original Viper going for $60 on average, continuously. Need the whole range from the new series in plastic - Mk 2/7 Viper, Raider, I know you feel the pain too.

If you like the old shows virtues you should ceck out the Mormon Church. The mythology of that faith was the base of the original show.
