Yes Ed.. He already has the Bandai Refit, so it was easy to give him a comparison shot for him to guage his thoughts from.. The PL Refit is hard to find and expencive here in Japan, so he never has had the chance to open up the box and have a look for himself... I had to order this one from Cult TV man in Atlanta.. Was a fair price, fair shipping, and it arrived here in Fukuoka in about a week after purchase.. So no complaints here... You know you want it! he he he

A friend of mine is interested in getting a PL Refit, but wasnt convinced of the size of it, so I took a pic here of it with my Bandai Refit, comming in at 1/850 scale.. He is now convinced...:-)

Hi Sponder.. Welcome to the board...

Thank you for the compliments about my build.. I am just an average builder, and I just try different things, and work by trial and error...

Getting to the soccer (football).. No I didnt expect Australia to win the cup, but I simply didnt expect them to be beaten by Italy with a shoddy referee call.. I also do believe that Italy were on thier last legs and any overtime played, Australia would have won with younger and stronger legs....Our American friends found out the hard way about playing Italy.. As for the Socceroos, it has been 32 years not 14 since we were last and first in the world cup...

As for Guus, he has only signed with Russia for 2 years, and as late as today has shown interest in returning back to Australia after that time.. In 2 years we will see.. As for Guus, he is a great coach, but the Australian team has proven it can play with anyone, and although not win, be very competitive... He will be most welcome, but I dont think Football Australia will show him an open cheque book if you know what I mean...

Anyways mate, please do enjoy the boards.. I have a friend here in Japan that is English, but lived in Holland for 25 years.. Yes, he is an older friend.. :-) I am but a young fella!....

hey chris,

i'm pretty much new here, just picked up moddeling as a hobby (as stated in F-15 topic.)

I bought myself a few trek kits since im a real trekkie. (got the excelsior in the build, the 1701-D(small scale though) DS 9, and a runabout in the order (on its way hopefully))  But: i really must point out, that this thread is REALLY inspirational, the way you are handeling this kit.. PFFF i only can dream of achieving you're level one day. (since you did EVERYTHING youre self <= aztec etc.)

NICE JOB!! wow truely amazing!

BUT:

thats NOT why i was posting here, since im a HUGE football (soccer) fan, and im from Holland, i reconned this would be a good time for the both of us, to get down on our knees, and bow down for "our" Guus Hiddink. He did it again! talking about amazing! EVERY club he went to he became champion, South Korea is a well known story, and imho, he did an EXCELENT job with the socceroos..(you didn't expect to become world champions now did you? loosing from italy is NOT something to be shamed about, especially for a country which hasn't been to a WC for 14 years. you can be proud of youre team! The dutch on the other hand, is a different story all together.)

anyway, Guus has signed for 4 years to become the coach of russia. There, he has 4 years to select his players, and build a team out of it! Korea and Japan (as well as PSV) are perfect examples that there is NO better man for the job than Guus. (Johan Cruyff maybe..) Scary thought though: in all countries all players play for their club in the competitions, and besides that they are selected for their countries. Not so in Russia, Guus probably will have the National team playing in russian competition.. OH OHW.... oh dear, instead of building a team (which he is so good at) he will now have the chance to FORGE a team.

im afraid Russia will be a HUGE force to be reconned with in 4 years, so dont be suprised if they will become the world champions in 4 years.

just my two cents.

Oh and BTW, for all modelbuilders: im a real computer nerd, and im tryin to get this developped.

Would any of you be intrested in using these once they are completely working? (thinking of getting them produced by factory, but as you can understand, i first need to know if it's worth the investment, if i order 1000 of these boards, but nobody buys them, i have a bigger problem..)

Also, as you guys are THE experts on starship models, any suggestions / wishes you would like to see in terms of lightning-script effects? (like blinking nav lights, slow warp startup/down, slow impuls stratup/down, saucersection: randomize which leds will be turned on/off so 60-70% off the lights (thus windows) are lit, but never the same lights/windows, this will bring the model a bit more "alive", at least thats my quess...)

I really want one lighting sollution for all my models, since several "one off" circuits just annoys me. so with this circuit, you can hook up any leds you want as well as EL-invertors (for EL-sheet and/or EL-wire), in ANY model you want, how it behaves is a matter of scripting.

Let me know what you guys think of it.

thanks, Sponder.

Dont worry Ed, we all have big wish lists!

UPDATE:

Ok guys, a little progress here to report.... I have finally mounted her, dry fitted the saucer and nacelles, and took a few pictures of the progress..

I mounted it on a rod by which I drilled through the whole body, and is fastened to the bottom saucer section by a bolt holding it in place.. The rod passes all the way through the secondary hull, and is then fastened again by 2 bolts one under the base and one on top.. Pretty simple, but it basically bolts the saucer to the body for extra support and hopefully will stop the saucer warping over time...I will be starting on the nacelles next...

Oh yeah PS: dont mind my daughters chocolate ice cream spilled on the table....

Enjoy the pics...

No problems Ed.. Infact, as it isn't a so called "canon" build. Its good to see that people are interested in different takes on the Refit..

Nah, you wont be glued for now.. But mention anything about Italy and soccer at the momment, and you might just be feather and tared..

Thanks Steve,

As this fella wont be lit, I am having to think of ways to give it the appearance of the nacelles and sensor to look animated.. All I have done, is paint the inside of the second piece of the sensor dish white, and the actual clear piece I sprayed the inside of it clear blue.. With the two blending in with each other, it gives it the appearance of being lit..

As for the nacelles, I sprayed the inside of the clear nacelle piece clear blue, let it sit a week, and then hit it with a flat white.. All the while giving it a light blue yet glassy affect to it as the outside of the clear piec remains un touched......

Yeah, the saucer is a job in itself and weighs almost as much as the rest put together..

Dont remind me about the little guys.. I still have the AMT Refit, AMT Reliant  waiting to be finished, and on top of that I have the AMT Tie Fighter and Tie Interceptor to do...

Anyways, noticed that all the pics I take of the Refit are always from the side.. So here is a change of angle..

Test fit with the nacelles..

UPDATE:

Ok, have gotten over the problems with the neck and have finally finished it.. After a little break and taking my mind off it for a while, I finished it this morning by laying down the decals and sealing it..

Here is a pic of the update, and you will notice that the neck is still sitting loosely.. The reason is that I am planing to run a rod connecting the saucer to the neck, down through the body, and then out the bottom for the stand.. I am still figuring out how I will do it.. The rear piece needs to be glued in, and I need to do the red markings down the outside of the nacelle pylon like I have done on the inside.. Once completed, the secondary hull will be complete, and I will begin on the nacelles.. I am leaving the saucer until last!

Ok, back on subject...

I decided to do the aztec on the neck first.. Then I will do the blue elevation stripe on either side, and when done place the windows in and glue the two halves together...

Once that is done, I will fill and sand the seems, paint the front and back in the appropriate colours, add the pre painted photon torpedo launchers in the front, and then add decals...

Here is what I have done so far in the process!

I also have some decals to add to the shuttle bay doors and phaser banks...

Yeah, for me, I dont usually like talking about my family and or child all that much, as this is the net, and I guess private lives should be private.. And so I guess I just stick to the fact and thats that.. Not one for over dramatising things.. But from some of the crap I have read lately on here, I am starting to feel a little squirmish...

Thanks again Ed, I will have a pic update for you tomorrow, the neck is comming together nicely, and I have just finished the aztec on it...
