That is one good looking ship you have there Chris.  Great job.  The aztecing looks really good on there.

I have a few Star Trek ships to build.  I am working on an Ent-B right now and am trying to finish up an old Excelsior that I have had in the works for years.  Also got a Runabout going on too.

Thanks for that Raist... I have really scratched my head with this one.. Its one of those, what is too much, what is enough kind of deals.. I have since put the rust ring around the top to stick with the original feel of the ship..

I love the original ship, so I didnt want the aztec to be in your face, and I just wanted it to look like a natural surface to what would normally be a flat plain saucer section..  I have started masking the secondary hull and nacelles, and will have that done, sometime today. My only problem is, that with all the work I have put into this 22" Cutaway, I now how have a gap on the neck where the saucer meets the neck.. So I have a feeling I should start on that and get any filling and sanding done before I start paint on both the underside of the saucer and the neck.. I dont like the idea of having a gap on the neck..

Thanks mate..

I have had the opportunity to see the updated episodes that have aired so far, and must say I have enjoyed them.. I like the Romulan BOP that they re-did, but I think that that they didnt do the aztec on this version of the Enterprise.. I was reading somewhere that they just enhanced it to fit in with its surrounds.. The version I am building is based on the Defiant from "Enterprise"... I must admit that when I watch the "Enhanced" versions, I do double takes on the Enterprise shots to see if someone did sneak an aztec pattern in there somewhere. he he he

Here is where I am at.. I have just finished the top part of the saucer and blended it all in together.. I will put the rust ring around the middle, and then start the decals...

Looking good, Chris.  I was taken by the revved up Constitution Class in "In A Mirror Darkly" too.  If you can find when they are showing them they are remastering the classic episodes

Check out the revved up Romulan ship and K-7, plus the newly created Gorn ship. I'm glad I haven't build my TOS kits yet.

SHE'S DONE!!: TOS Enterprise..With aztec!....

Well, I simply couldnt help myself, and so I decided to build one of my all time "have to do" builds..

I am of course talking about the TOS Enterprise with hull plating and aztec...

I started off with the AMT 22" Cutaway  TOS Enterprise kit, and decided that I wanted to make this baby the way I feel she needs to be..

Dont get me wrong. I love the the old girl like the next Trek fan, but in all honesty, at 32, I wasnt around 40 years ago, and even though I still watch and love the original series. I have always felt that the Enterprise needed a little more in the way of character.. So the decision was made after re-watching the Enterprise episodes of "A Mirror Darkly" by where we saw the USS Defiant in all its up-dated glory, I decided to do my version of how an updated Enterprise should look..!

In these pictures, I have assembled the saucer section, and have layed down my own design for an aztec pattern.. It took ages to measure all of this out and cut, but I think it is well worth it.. .. Infact the aztec was only just completed when these pics were taken, but I have actually added extra coats to the final finish, and have blended the aztec in to how I think it should appear.. Pics to come tomorrow after it dries a little more..

ps: I dont mind putting myself out there, and calling the latest Star Trek Group build, as a no show.. I do however give Capt S merrit for trying to start another one though...

Its got nothing to do with who has started anything. But there has simply been zero responce to it.. And I find that a bit of a shame...

I normally build aircraft. But have enjoyed doing all the sci-fi kits of late.. And its just a shame that the sci-fi section doesnt get the same participation on this site as it does others?.. Plus when it seems like there are only a few members that actually post on a regular basis, then it kinda feels like we are taking up space, and posting just for the sake of it?..

As for me. I will be heading back to my usual aircraft board and I will leave the sci-fi section alone for a while.. I will continue to build my Trek kits
