Normally, if I was going to build this model to waterline, then yes, there'd be weathering. However, I also prefer the way many museum models look as well; pristine to a fault. Have not quite decided what direction I'm going to go here yet.
But don't get me wrong, back when I built a number of models for the local maritime museum (as well as for my own collection), and they were displayed, by golly, I beat the heck out of them. One of my favourite models was of the topsail schooner Union, in 1/32" = 1' (1/384 scale). This little ship (measuring less than 3 inches in length) was a wonderful little vessel to build. I displayed her in a chop with storm sails up. The sails, done in a brownish colour, were patched and a little worn; all that in 1/384.
Oh yes, I can weather. Just not sure if I want to do so here.
