I believe you are referring to the new line of ship kits from Dragon (DML). They are available in 1/700 and 1/350 scales. The basic idea is that they provide a level of detail above the average, including different levels of photo etch.
I suggest that you consult detailed reviews of any individual ship you might wish to start. As an example I am working with the Dragon Z-39 in 1/350. It is a beautifully detailed and molded kit. However, some may find it too complicated for their taste. Step One of this kit's construction calls for the assembly of the ships AA battery. The first four guns are roughly a quarter of an inch in size but contain 16 parts each, six of which are photo etch. Detail junkies love this stuff but be prepared to work with photo etch parts that are about .7 mm to 1 mm in size (gunner seats and elevation wheels). There are 8 more such assemblies to go through just to get into step two of the instructions. There are no alternate simplified assemblies.
There have also been concerns raised about the quality of instructions in the newer line of 1/350 kits from Dragon. The 700 scale kits have not raised nearly as many concerns.
I do not recommend that you try one of the 1/350 kits in this line if it is your first ship kit unless you have had experience with working with really tiny parts in both plastic and photo etch.
