Well, that's good that the sizes I ordered should be correct.  They're walnut; I'll post an update when they arrive.

The Thomas has a few trouble spots...the chainplates (or what passes for chain plates on this style of ship) don't seem to fit right....the holes seem off from the channel grooves...hopefully I can get them to fit, and they need to be fastened securely to the hull to withstand the shroud tension.

Also, the shields are l-a-m-e...totally smooth, and instead of molded details to paint, the kit has these blurry decals that are too large for the shields....I tried a decal, thinking maybe I could trim it off, but it was a mess...so instead I applied some dramatic grain effect with oils...better than nothing, but I prefer the shields that Imai uses, with raised decoration that can be painted.

Well, my Walnut Triangular Deadeyes (5 & 7mm) came from Cornwall Model Boats today....and I am pleased!  They are suitably-sized, and the shape and finish is perfectamundo!

For the sole purpose of illuminating my fellow ship-modelers, I offer a comparison pic of the Cornwallmodel boats deadeyes next to the brittania deadeyes I received from Bluejacket Shipcrafters.

I don't know if the differences are profoundly evident in the pics, but I found the Bluejacket pieces to have issues with uniformity, and cleanliness of the mold lines.  The outer grooves of many of them are almost entirely filled in with metal slag/flash, the holes are commonly suffering the same problem, and the overall shape of them requires a lot of cleanup to make them smooth and correctly, uniformly shaped.

The only issue I have with the walnut ones is that the holes aren't *perfectly* lined up on all of them....but it's close enough to make no matter.  And the cornwall stuff was literally less than half the price of what I got from Bluejacket, including shipping.  Shipping time from overseas was comparable (less than 1 week).

Anyway, like I said, just wanted to inform any interested persons of my impression.

And now that my deadeyes are here, I can proceed with the rigging of the Thomas...which, incidentally, is quite minimal, so I expect I'll be finished with it before long.
